That's right...in Mrs. Ziliani's piano studio, learning music theory is a lot of fun. Students use a variety of software, books and teaching aides to learn theory. It's fun....it's important! Check out some of the cool ways students are learning theory below...

Music Ace

Music Ace® is a fun, engaging and non-judgmental music education software program designed by Harmonic Vision to provide an introduction to music fundamentals for beginning music students, both young and old. Following the friendly direction of Maestro Max and his choir of singing notes, users participate in a series of 24 comprehensive lessons, play a variety of challenging games, and easily compose their own music on a unique Music Doodle Pad. Note-reading, Rhythmic develpment, Symbol and Interval recognition, Composition, Scales, and more is all taught using this entertaining software. 

NEW Groovy Music is a series of three exciting software programs for elementary and middle school students. Go back in time and examine the lives of some of the greatest composer of all time with this unbelieveable series from Zane Home Library. Mrs. Ziliani believes strongly that students should have a well-rounded musical education, and music history is a vital part of that curriculum. The Great Composers series brings music history to life for students of all ages!

Music Games Intn'l

Mrs. Ziliani believes in fostering a lifelong love for music in each child. And becoming a well-rounded musician is also important. Therefore students are taught about not only the piano, but about all of the instruments in the orchestra. Here are two games students adore that teach them about the orchestra and great composers...all the while improving their audio and visual memory, critical thinking skills, problem solving skills, pattern recognition and listening skills.

        

Piano Is Fun!

Learning the lines and spaces of the music staff used to seem tedious and boring. The most exciting teaching aid for staff reading were flashcards. NO MORE! In Mrs. Z's studio the students use the Piano Is Fun software to learn all about note-reading.

Follow the Adventure trail through mythical, musical lands! Answer questions about musical concepts to move ahead, but beware of pitfalls along hte way. About the Game: The game cards in this set reinforce skills in identifying keys on the keyboard. It is designed for 2v6 players but may be adapted for individual or team use. For an individual player, use the playing cards as flash cards. Divide a large group into teams with two players on each team. Use regular game play directions with one player on a team naming the key and the other team member playing it on the keyboard. Both players must be correct to remain in place.
