Why This Program?

This unique group piano program is designed to introduce piano in a fun and exciting way! Students, in age-appropriate classes, will develop their musical aptitude through piano-playing, ear-training, movement, singing, and games.

The basics of proper technique at the piano will also be emphasized.  In a typical 30 minute private lesson there is little or no time for music history, composition and improvisation activities. Group lesson students will enjoy all of these! Incentives are integrated into the program to keep students motivated and build their confidence as they receive recognition for their progress.  This introductory method lays the groundwork for success in formal piano study.

Our classes are geared to the individual needs of each student. We keep class size small (4 students) and each student has their very own full-size digital piano for use during class.

Benefits of Group Piano Instruction:

  • Students learn musical concepts faster in a class by experiencing both their own performances and those of their classmates.
  • Lesson preparation is noticeably improved over the private lesson opportunity. Students are more likely to practice because they see themselves as part of a group, growing together through music. They develop a sense of being part of a team and making a team effort.
  • Cost for a 1 hour group lesson is less than that of a 30 minute private lesson. Students receive more instruction while having more fun!
  • A class setting creates confident performers! Students perform for each other every week in a relaxed environment.
  • Ear-training skills become more refined as students learn to listen to themselves in relation to an ensemble.
  • Guided class improvisation fosters creativity, expression and awareness of musical form.
  • Each week students experience the piano as both a solo and ensemble instrument.
  • Students make new friends!
