Choice Users

Choice Users are Pokemon that use that use the items Choice Band, Choice Specs and Choice Scarf. If you encounter one of these Pokemon, you should know what to do and how to counter them.

But with the great power these items give, it also comes at a great price. You can only use 1 move but when you switch you can chose another. This makes prediction much more impotent in battles.

Choice Scarf

Choice Scarf was introduced in the 4th generation. It powers up a Pokemon's Speed by x1.5. So this item makes before slower, but powerful Pokemon, much more faster and can use this new speed and KO. Heracross being one of those Pokemon.

How do I know a Pokemon is a Choice Scarf user?

Well, if it's not usually faster then you then you and it hits you 1st, that's very obvious. Also if you switch in a counter and it keeps using the same move, that's also a way of telling.

How do I tell before they move?

Most Choice Scarfers are slow Pokemon (Like Gallade, Heracross and Tyranitar) so when they lead a match or just switch in on a fast Pokemon that they usually can't out-speed and go for the KO.

Choice Scarf users have also been called Revenge Killers. They get called that because the switch in and get hit by an attack then with that extra speed, hit the Pokemon and KO it. Garchomp is a common example of a Revenge Killer.

Choice Specs

Choice Specs where also introduced in the 4th generation. This item increases a Pokemon's Sp.Att by x1.5. This item made once powerful Special Sweepers even stronger and not so good ones a good shot a standard play.

How do i find out if a Pokemon is holding Choice Specs?

Well, when a Pokemon uses a move and it's much stronger then normal, that's a clear sign. Also when a Pokemon keeps using the same move it is also a massive sign.

How do I find out a Choice Specs users before it attacks?

It's very hard to tell. It's a madder of luck and prediction.

Choice Specs has added many sets to Pokemon. Like Salamence, it used to be all physical but you can use Choice Specs on it and make it very powerful. SpecsMence was at one stage (maybe still is) the Salamence Standard.

Choice Band

Choice Band was introduced in the 3rd generation. It strengthens a Pokemon's Attack stat by x.15. This item made those all powerful Physical Sweepers even stronger. Pokemon like Salamence and Slaking can use this item to it's full capabilities.

How do I find out if a Pokemon is a Choice Bander?

Really the same way as Choice Specs. If it's stronger then normal or if they keep using the same move again and again.

How do I find out if a Pokemon is a Choice Bander before we attack?

Same as Choice Specs again, there is really no way to tell.

Choice Band has been a wonderful item to Pokemon with massive attack that can also do even more with it. Pokemon that have lower speed can also use this well for getting damaged then sticking back with tons of power.

Countering

Mainly prediction is used to stop Choice Users. Mainly it depends on what Pokemon you have out. If they have an Alakazam and you have a Weezing, you know a Psychic is coming so you switch to a Dark type or a Special Wall to absorb the Psychic. It really depends on the Pokemon, their moveset and your team.

Making

When making a set, make sure all of your moves are offensive! No point in being stuck with using a stat rasing move that wouldn't help because you need to switch to change moves.

If you want to make it powerful, go with a STABed move (or 2 if a duel type) and moves that cover lots of types.
