CAT PARENTAGE TESTING PROGRAM

is a voluntary Cat DNA program

We are not a registry association!

Participants of the   program are required to submit a code of ethics contract. Once a code of ethics is on file, a graphic logo will be sent for useage on website and advertising.

DNA testing is currently standard procedure in the dog and horse worlds. We feel it is time to move the cat world into the 21st century. We feel that in order to end paper hanging (and the use of multiple pedigree cats in different breeding programs) DNA testing to prove parentage needs to become an industry standard for cat breeding.

However, established registries are not going to require DNA testing because they will lose $$$$.  So it falls to the ethical breeders to band together and educate the public.  Fancy Publications are an ideal tool to promote 'Who's Your Daddy?' to educate the public so that they know to ask for DNA paperwork as well as registration paperwork.  It is our goal to sign up breeders to participate and display the 'Who's Your Daddy' logo by the publication of Kittens USA 2006 magazine.

There is no fee to join the 'Who's Your Daddy?' program and start using the logo in ads and on websites.  All that is required of a breeder is to complete and sign the code of ethics and mail it in.

If a breeder wants to be listed on the 'Who's Your Daddy?' website there will be a $20 fee.  The $$$ collected will be used to run the website and to publish generic ads about the program and DNA testing to help educate the public. See an example below, to appear in publications like Kittens USA, CATS USA and other magazines.  (We will also be taking donations from anyone who would like to really get behind this with us and wants to see more ads run!!!!)

Who's Your Daddy is a DNA parentage testing program. In order to participate a breeder MUST agree to submit DNA on all breeding cats as their kittens become available, starting July first of 2006. DNA testing or profiling via UC Davis is 40 per cat. When a breeder sells a kitten it is not the responsibilty of the breeder to test each kitten. The breeder simply provides the new owner with the proper form, filled out with the parentage info andthe testing swabs. It is up to the new owner to do the test or not. So the additional cost will be minimal to breeders.

We will be launching this site sometime in the near future and hope to get as many breeders on board as we can. Many breeds have been falsely accused of using another breed in their programs for a very long time.  This is your opportunity to say ... not only are we not using another breed but we are willing to prove it!!!!
