During the mutual help meetings a protocol is followed which helps to keep the meetings running smoothly:

  1. Share in Changes goal of mental health.
  2.
 Allow the Co-ordinator to coordinate the meeting.
  3.
 Respect each others right to anonymity.
  4.
 Adhere to Changes Confidentiality Policy.
  5.
 Be honest, respectful and non-disruptive.
  6.
 Be prepared to talk, listen and learn.
  7.
 Refer to medication in general terms.
  8.
 Consult the prescriber regarding changes to medication.
  9.
Act in each others best interests.
10.
Exercise caution in disclosing personal information to other members.
11.
Avoid mentioning any third party by name.
12. Refer to problem types rather than psychiatric labels.

Changes has a commitment which is recited at the end of each meeting:
