Changes mutual help groups provide support for anyone experiencing mental distress. Official statistics show that 1 in 4 people experience mental distress each year and 1 in 2 GP consultations have a mental health aspect.
As well as providing confidential support for those personally experiencing mental distress, Changes also supports people who are in contact with it, whether it be a carer or family member. Running throughout the year with weekly groups it provides both long term and short term support.
Uniquely Changes is run by service users. The mutual help meetings are led by people who are experiencing or have experienced mental health problems. The Executive Committee mostly comprises of users or ex-users.
Anyone can attend (16+). No referral or booking is needed, just come along with no commitment.
Changes recovery service is based on a 12 step programme (which can be found on this website.)
