Please Check Your Darts!
Tommy Ward, of Burgess Hill British Legion, inadvertently picked up an odd dart which doesn't belong to him, at the Junction Inn, after the Blind Doubles Competition. If anybody has a dart missing, or has a dart that isn't theirs, would they please contact Tommy and let him know. He would like his own dart back, and would like to give back the odd one to its rightful owner.
Thank you All
Pat

Urgent Note From The Committee
Submitted by Pat Hawke
The Committee is concerned at the number of entrants there have been to the Competitions, including the Round Robin, and would urge all signed-on players to register for these. We have 103 registered players, and only 10 turned up for the Men's Singles Competition last year. So please support the competitions, as the entrance money goes towards the purchase of trophies and the chosen Charity, on Finals Night.
The competitions are good nights out, and need to be well supported, so the Committee would like to see an increased turn out this Season. They put in the work arranging competitions for you, so please make a concerted effort to support your League, and keep it running. The same goes for Finals Night. Please come along and lend your support to the players who have made it that far. The beer is cheap and the darts a pleasure to watch, so we hope to see you all there, in good voice.

The Viking Returns
Submitted by Pat Hawke
Andy, The Viking, Fordham, who was taken ill at Lakeside Country Club in
January and hospitalised for chest and liver problems... is back! Some
feared that he might never play competitive darts again, but
with the strong support of his family, friends and fellow players,
Andy, now down to twenty-one stones in weight, has been making steady
progress
towards a return to good health. After months of not picking up a
dart, he has been practising privately and when he returned to
competitive darts last week in the Turunc Open in Turkey, he reached
the Semi-Finals.
Andy's Quote:
“Although
I was a little nervous to begin with, the confidence slowly came back,
and I was pleased and surprised with my game and the way I handled it. This
was my first competitive darts for eight long months and although
there’s still a way to go, I now have a firm target to aim for and
goals to achieve.”
The Viking has accepted an invitation to compete in the
Winmau World Masters this November, as well as the BDO ranked
Zuiderduin Masters in Egmond aan Zee, Holland in December.
It's good to see him back!

A Gold Star For Hospitality
Submitted by Pat Hawke
Awarded to the Con Club by the Eight Bells Team, after their visit on Wednesday 24th October. I'm sure all League teams will join with us in thanking the staff and members here. The match was drawn but a good night was had by all, thanks to the hospitality of the Club Stewards and the Darts Team, and the friendliness of the customers.
The food, in the form of Chili Con Carne, Rice, Chips, Sausages, Sandwiches and Chutneys, was very well received, and enough for each player to have a three-course meal!
Thank you so much for your efforts, guys. We felt very welcome and comfortable at your Club. An extremely well earned gold star for you.

Message Reference Men's and Ladies' Doubles Competitions
Submitted by Fred Higham
Due to the British Legion not being available, the Men's and Ladies' Doubles Competitions will now be played at the Cricketers, on Wednesday, 21st November. Please arrive for 8.00 p.m. to register your presence. We would ask that each team enter as many players as they possibly can in the competition to make it worthwhile. I can't state strongly enough how important this is to the continued running of the league.
There are three boards available there and we are hoping to get through to the final four players in each competition, i.e. finalists.
It is imperative that Fred receives your entries by 14th November, so that he is able to make the draw and allocate boards, since there are less boards at this venue. So please, will all secretaries please make sure that if their players want to be included, that you get the forms in to Fred in good time. There will be no exceptions... any players names not received by this date will not compete in the doubles competitions.
Thank you for your cooperation and good luck all those who are entering. See you there!!!
Ladies' and Men's Doubles Competitions - 21st November 2007
Submitted by Pat Hawke
The Doubles Competitions went off very smoothly, at the Cricketers venue. I would like to thank Fred Higham for organising this, and Dave Mills and the Cricketers for setting up a good venue for the competitions. Everything went very well, and I will be submitting the names of all the finalists just as soon as I obtain these from Fred.
Many thanks one and all for a well-attended and enjoyable evening out. It was great to see you all there, despite, if you'll excuse me mentioning, the poor quality of play on the television, by our national football team.!!!
