Central Sussex Darts League Rules

  • The League shall be open to teams within a 8 mile radius of the Martletts Hall, Burgess Hill. The object of the League shall be to promote the game of darts within the Central Sussex area and to raise funds for local charity.
  • The League shall be governed by a Committee comprising of the officers of the League Chairman Fixture Secretary,     Competition Secretary, Treasurer, and as many members that are deemed acceptable at the Annual General Meeting.
  • The elected Committee shall be appointed trustees of all League property.
  •  The League banker's shall be the Midland Bank with monies in a B.H.I.A.  The Treasurer, Fixture Secretary and one other Committee member of the League shall be the only persons with the authority to sign cheques or have dealings with the same.
  •  Each team shall be represented at the Annual General Meeting. The composition of the League for the ensuing season will be formulated by the Committee - no teams will be accepted after the Annual General Meeting subject to the Committee’s discretion.
  • The League Committee shall organise such fund raising events as they deem necessary for the benefit of the League.
  • Each team will pay an annual subscription of  thirty (30) pounds at the Annual General Meeting or within two weeks of the due date, plus a further £25 per team. If a team leaves the league (at the end of the season) then this £25 will be refunded. Teams that continue in the league, will the following year only have to pay the annual subscription of £30, as the retainer will still be held in the league’s funds. Any new team joining the league will then have to pay £55 which will include the £25 retainer. Player registration will be one (1) pound per player to be paid on an evening before the start of the season as directed by the Fixtures Secretary. Extra player registrations may be made up to the start of the second half of the season. Players will be eligible to play once the Fixture Secretary has received the player's name and registration fee.
  • The £25 retainer will be forfeited for any of the following:-
  • a)  Games called off without the 48 hour prior notice (except in exceptional circumstances)
  • b)  Failing to supply the result card to the fixtures secretary by 1800 on the Monday following the game.    
  • c)  Playing an unregistered player. (Players name and registration money must be supplied to the fixtures secretary prior to the game).
  •  League rules may only be changed at the Annual General Meeting or Extraordinary General Meeting called specially for that purpose. Voting powers will be one vote per team.
  • A standard board shall be used which must be in good condition. The board shall be 5 feet 8 inches up from the floor to the centre and the throw shall be 7 feet 9 inches from the face of the board to the toe line. Toe lines must be clearly marked with a rubber mat or a fixed metal strip. The lighting must be such that the boards are adequately illuminated allowing a clear view of the scores.
  •  Each team shall play two games - one home, one away - against every other team in their respective league division.
  • Wednesday at 8.30 pm shall be the starting time of matches except where special arrangements have been made.  Any player not present when their name is called will be substituted by a reserve and if no reserve is available the game will be forfeited.
  • If a team wishes to postpone a fixture they must give the Fixture Secretary and their opponents at least 48 hours notice and the game must be played within 7 days of the original date.
  • The home team will make their board open to visitors from 8.15 pm
  • League matches shall consist (in order of play) - 6 singles and 3 doubles. Singles to be 301 - doubles to be 501 - both     double in and best of three. Both teams shall draw for the order of playing - doubles to be drawn after the singles have     been played.  All games to be played in the order drawn. First two drawn out in the doubles will partner each other (no     choosing of partners) then 3rd & 4th out to partner each other and 5th & 6th to partner each other. A player may only play in one singles and one doubles.
  • League games to be 'mugs' away in the second leg.
  • The '50' or the 'bull' shall count as a double to start and finish a game.
  •  Result cards must be received by the Fixtures Secretary no later than 6.00 pm on the Monday following the match with the names of the players of both teams and signed by both captains. ‘180's' and games of notable achievement should also be notified. It will be the responsibility of the winning team to post the result sheet to the fixture secretary.
  • Each league match has 12 points to play for - one for each of the singles and two for each of the doubles. The winning     team shall score two match points in the league table (each team scoring one in the event of a draw) and the champions will be the team with the highest number of match points at the end of the season. In the event of two or more teams tying at the end of the season then the team with the most matches won will be counted the champions.  If the teams are still level after this, then games for and against will be taken into account. If it is still a tie then the two teams involved will play a deciding match at a venue decided by the committee and will play a normal Wednesday night league match. If this ends in a 6 all draw then a sudden death game of 1001, double finish only will be played as a team game, each team consisting of 6 players.
  • The home team will provide a chalker and the away team a caller for all league matches.
  • A team must turn up and play even if they are short of players and will forfeit the legs as necessary.
  •  In the event of any occurrence not being provided for in these rules the matter shall be decided upon by the Committee whose verdict will be final.
