Katie was trained by Mark Simpkin. she has told us she had so much fun! Cheers Mark!
Shelly King trained Steph and Vickie, they were both riding young horses, they used the training to get the ponies used to other horses while playing! well done girls!
A good start to the season with a Training weekend!
Emily and Katie, Vickie and Steph. Caz and Libby went to this training.Although we all went to be trained, one of the trainers didnt turn up so Vickie had to drop in her place. She got thanked and paied at the end. Steph, Caz and Emily had Will Watera as their coach for the weekend, he got them practising execisies with the horses and talks about tactics. Thanks Will!
Katie and Libby got trained by Lewis Parr, they had an excellant time with him (and Chris) Well Done girls!
Thank you to the hosts!
Well done to everyone who played at Pennine on the weekend, you all played your hearts out against some stiff competition we took two teams all the way to doncaster + the UK juniors, Our junior team Emily, Lucy and Sarah Finished 2nd in the Junior section, Vickie, Meg and Dom finished 2nd in the C section, our squad players Jon, Steph and Alice all secured a place in the tri nations at cardiff, Vickie won best no 2 in the C section. It was a superb weekend.
Thank you very much to Tony, Julie, Hazel, Kelly and Jan for driving the teams up and looking after us all while we were up there
Our Juniors (Vicki Metcalfe, Lizzie Merrick, John Whitehead, Kat Finch, Steph Metcalfe, Alice Hibberd and Tom McLeod) once again came second in the Nationals Final against Celyn, it was a close match and not without a few incidents!
The Primary Juniors made their mark, with the high point being the Minis (Katie Newbrook, Georgina Davies and Camilla Barnes) winning at the M&W Tournament and, yes, everybody was off the lead rein! Good luck to Jess Jones who now leaves the safety (?!) of the PJs to go up into the Juniors. With numbers being down in the PJ ranks this year, it was excellent to see 3 of our members; Emily Newbrook, Sammi Jones and Sarah Grundy (on a pony that had only seen a stick and ball twice let alone played a game!) represent Ledbury Hunt Pony Club at the Championships in August at Sansaw Park. And what a credit to us…they were Reserve Champions to Albright and Woodland and Emily won the Female Sportsmanship award for the whole event. The rain, mud and lack of facilities all paled into insignificance!
Jon and Robin Clark teamed up regularly with Mr Men in some hard fought battles at B grade, and Matt Hale, Meg Hibberd and Charlie Zygmunt teamed up in the C grade with a force that will surely be realised next year!
Mandy Harrison was sorely missed this season, but watch out 2005…
Vickie trained with and played on the 2004 Junior Development Squad at the Tri Nations, Cardiff using these skills throughout the season to great effect. We now have Alice, Steph and John on the Junior Squads for 2005, well done to you all!
Our training was ably carried out by Murray Evans and Matt, taking us back to basics and helping to improve us all.
A big thank you to all the clubs who lent us players on occasions to make up teams; to all our parents and helpers, without you we wouldn’t have managed the rabble or been fed; to Helen Grundy for becoming our PR and Sponsorship co-ordinator; and to our outgoing chairwoman, Jane Davies, for all her help and support over the years.
