Re-introducing the Celtic tradition of celebrating Beltane to welcome summer with fire all things fire, dance and music. This will include skill sharing and re-empowering ourselves with the ancients’ knowledge of community development, when history and troubled times were handed down thru song, and altho’ the road was long, there was support and trust in the Celtic community.
Now, more than ever, we need to open our hearts and minds to embrace the differences within, and outside of our own cultures.
This event is geared to bringing back that sense of community to all people by encouraging participants to accept their responsibility in respecting and looking after the fire.
The Celtic Fire Fest especially welcomes asylum seekers, refugees and sans papiers. Entry fee will be waivered and we hope that this invitation will be accepted. Please contact us in advance to arrange entrance.
The "What, where, when, why & how".
This year's Celtic Fire Festival will be held in rural Lanarkshire, April 28-30th 2006 as a camping experience with a community atmosphere. Traditionally, Beltane is held on the eve of May 1st to herald the onset of summer. Fertility rituals were held to welcome new life and to build on community spirit.
It's important for all cultures to hold onto the best of their traditions and to re-empower their youth with skills and knowledge of the past. Now, more than ever we need to build on our relationships and welcome new faces, so that these traditions may be shared and enjoyed by all.
This event is geared to empowering the local & wider community in a traditional Celtic manner, bringing together artists who work with fire to welcome this summer season.
