An Island of Serians
Suddenly you hear the pounding of hooves rapidly approaching, their sound only slightly muffled by the soft forest ground. The creature is moving quickly towards you, and nervously you glance at Celeste for reassurance that whatever is rushing towards the clearing isn't dangerous.
"Don't worry. You're about to meet a Serian..." She trails off and looks off in the distance. She must've seen something, because her smile widens. "Ah, it's Whirl. You're lucky, she doesn't usually show herself to strangers."
Before you have time to question what exactly a 'Whirl' is, a horse-like creature emerges from the shadows of the trees. It's small, like a slender pony, and fantastically colored. In fact, it's surprising you didn't notice it before; its coat is a stunning neon green and its hooves and eyes are both bubblegum pink. It looks at you shyly from under a tangled, dark green mane. It's breathing hard, obviously it had ran all the way here.
"Say hello, Whirl - don't be rude," Celeste murmurs soothingly, patting the Serian gently on its neck.
You thought it couldn't get more strange, but then the animal turned its head to you and actually replies!
"Hi..." It says timidly but with a sweet little smile gracing its young features. It steps a little closer to Celeste, its ears pricked towards you in curiosity.
"She's still kind of skittish," the half-angel explains with a affectionate pat on Whirl's shoulder. "She's my first bonded, you see, so we're both new at this."
"Your 'bonded'? What does that mean?" You ask as you look at the pair.
"It's not really something that can be explained," Whirl says brightly, perking up. She and Celeste exchange looks and you can practically see the connection between them. "I guess it's almost like finding your soul mate, your mother, and your child all at once? I don't know," she adds, and she and Celeste both laugh.
You feel as if you've been left out on an amazing secret; in fact you feel an irrational pang of jealousy watching the two together. Whirl seems to sense this, as she whispers something in Celeste's ear. The half-angel chuckles and puts her hands on her waist.
"So, you'd like to become a bonded?" <-- Coming soon...
