Flower Festival 2008
WELCOME
To
“A CELEBRATION OF FESTIVALS”
This year`s annual Flower Festival is part of our 40th. Church Anniversary Celebrations. All the arrangements are based on the Themes used during those years, either depicting the whole theme or a topic within that theme.
Many of the early Festivals were based around Favourite Hymns, Psalms and Bible passages. As time progressed their topics widened to include other themes, all of which show God relevant to, and present in all aspects of our lives.
The earliest Festivals were vastly different from the Flower Festivals we see today. We trace the origin of these to before this church was built. As part of the fund raising for the building of St. Andrew`s a floral arts and crafts exhibition was part of a week long Summer Festival. People entered various categories of arrangements using mainly garden and wild flowers. The first flower festival in St. Andrew`s was held in 1971, and has been held here every year since.
We are very grateful to all the arrangers who have helped us during those years, and are pleased to welcome some of them back this year along with some new faces.
We hope you will enjoy your visit to the Festival, and take delight in the beauty of the flowers and foliage, the fellowship, music and food, all part of God`s love for us all.
