CC&DC Sound System are Leeds newest revival reggae & lovers rock sound. This husband & wife team, Colette & David Carter, were tired of having to travel out of town to hear the kind of music that rocked their boat. Namely, UK lovers rock, rocksteady, roots and general revival reggae from the 70's & 80's.
Having held regular house parties, they decided to try and give Leeds a taste of their unique vibe. CC&DC Sound System was officially born on September 11 2003, when they did their first gig at the Fford Grene, Harehills. In December of the same year, they held a reggae lovers night at The Highwood Hotel in Moortown, this went down so well they were hired to hold regular monthly dances which are still going strong.
DC is the man behind the power and builds his own boxes (speakers) including doubles & quads for the bass, essential for a reggae sound! His homemade midrange & tweeter boxes do the rest.
CC is the selector, she has been an avid lovers rock & reggae fan since the age of 12 and her vast collection of tunes & knowledge of this era ensures their dances are always live & kickin'!
CC&DC continue to go from strength to strength, they've held 70's & 80's disco/funk nights at The Skyrack in Headingley as well as playing for a number of private functions including 40th's, 50th's, school reunions &
weddings.
On October 23rd 2004 at Leeds West Indian Centre, they held a dance featuring one of the UK's leading lovers rock crooners Don Campbell (formally of Undivided Roots & General saint & Campbell) live on stage.
They have also held dances with Private Collection & Tippa Irie
They are available for hire, anything from small house parties to dancehall style dances.
