 NEXT PARENTS MEETING: October 1, 2008 @ 6:15 pm.

If you would like a head's up on some swim meets, please go to http://www.swimutah.com/ and click on MEETS. There is a TENTATIVE list of meets there. I haven't yet decided which meets we will attend, but more than likely we will go to one meet a month as a team. If you would like to attend a meet on your own, please feel free to do so. You can just let me know before hand and I can sign your swimmer up and pay the fee.

This past summer was a lot of fun for me. I feel that we had a good time and that we had a very successful season. All of the swimmers that went to meets were able to drop some time or close to it. I've seen massive improvements in your children. I know that for some this has been a hard change to adjust to. I know that I am new at this and I understand that new coaches are hard to get used to. I want to let you know that I'm doing my best, but I am not going to please everyone. I have my own ideas and experience that aren't what any previous coaches have had. I am not your old coach. I know that I have implemented some new things and I hope that we can all work together to make the team better than it has ever been!

Your team warms ups are in and if you have not paid for them, please do so before you get your warm ups. The embroidery is finished as well.

If you have not paid for you swim meets yet, please do so at the front desk.

I will be putting up all of our team results on the website under RESULTS soon.

It is expected that the swimmer(s) have their own fins with in a 2 week period of joining.  Swimmers in Developmental and Level 1 need there own Fins and Shoes. Level 2 and senior groups need to have their own paddles, competitive snorkel, fins and Shoes. Shoes can be old, but they need to be clean.

Swim Meets:

Swimmers will be grouped by age and skill levels. Meets are held in the Intermountain area. They are an important part of swimming and provide an opportunity for parents and swimmers to see progression. When the Swimmer is Capable to compete, it will be mandatory to attend 4 meet within a 6 month period. At the beginning of the swim season parents will be given a schedule of what meets they will be able to attend. (This also includes that the parents help at the meets, such as timing and volunteering.)  The coaches will choose the events for the swimmers.

CCAT is an organization that promotes family involvement. We feel that parental support is a vital part of a successful swim team. Input from our parents is always welcomed and encouraged.

Education:

Swimmer and parent education is important. Please don’t be concerned if you have never been around competitive swimming. The coaches, other swimmers and parents will help you understand the terminology and the rules of the sport. You should also check out the USA Swimming website, www.usaswimming.org and the Utah Swimming site, www.swimutah.com, for more information.

Parent meetings are held once a month, usually on the first Wednesday of the month, but at the digression of the swim coach. Check the team website to keep up on updates. If the parent misses a meeting, it is up to the parent’s responsibility to contact the coach and find out what was discussed at the meeting.

Parent Involvement:

Swimming is a sport requiring parental involvement. Each year CCAT hosts two USA sanctioned meets. Over 350 swimmers participate in these two meets, which combined, generate over $3,500 annually for the CCAT. This money is used for equipment replacement, technical needs, and social activities for the CCAT program. Parent volunteers need to help with all aspects of our meets including snack bar, technical support (timing, computer, runners etc.), and equipment set-up/take-down. In addition, parent volunteers will be contacted to help with CCAT fundraisers and social activities. We expect parents to volunteer and we need all of your help for meets and activities.

If you have any questions or concerns you can email Coach Nikki @ nikki.b.walsh@gmail.com or  Aaron Udy @ aaron.udy@clearfieldcity.org
