articles:

1. Write Articles - Articles are great ways to gain quality one way links. At the end of your article include a resource box. In it include a little about yourself, a link to your site and possibly a freebie (ebook? e-course?) to draw readers to your site.

2. Reciprocal Link - Some say reciprocal linking is dead while others worship it. Neither of these two groups are completely correct. Reciprocal linking increases link popularity and can bring in more traffic than search engines in certain cases. It all is dependent on who is linking to you and how much traffic they receive. With a few strategically placed links on popular pages your site could receive immense amounts of traffic.

Hint: Only text links improve link popularity! Watch out for javascript links that don't help in improving link popularity. These links will act like normal links, but do not help in your search engine optimization campaign.

3. Make your site link worthy - A webmaster of another site won't link to you if your site has major flaws. Misspellings, broken links, bad color schemes, poor navigation and more are all problems that could keep you from getting links. Fix them and make your site look professional and link worthy.

4. Be at the top of your industry with compelling content.

5. Create tools and ebooks with imbedded links.

6. Participate in forums and include a small, inoffensive text link in your signature. Keywords should be included in the link's anchor text.

7. Submit to directories.

8. Get the word out! Tell everyone, family, friends, employees and whoever else.

9. Ask associate and client sites for a link.

10. Search for sites linking to competition, they may link to you also

1. The first thing to do is to make sure you can add links to your website, for this we hired a company called Clarity Media, they installed this facility with the minimum of fuss.
2. I would advise you to Join Link Market at www.linkmarket.net , they will provide you with many link sources, however it is important to bear in mind only exchange links with companies that are ‘on theme’.
3. Trawl through DMOZ for ‘on theme’ companies, send them a courteous email asking if they would like to exchange links.
4. Email your direct competitors and ask if they would like to exchange links, they will probably decline, however as your page ranking and rating improve they will more than likely return to ask you to exchange.
5. Adding a popular link to your resource section seems to work well, i.e. Google, Yahoo, IBM, MSN, EBay etc. I guess it is seen as looking after your customers.
6. Post in blogs and forums that allow you to leave your link in a signature block.
7. Write articles with embedded links and freely distribute them.
8. List in paid and free directories.

The time frame for success will depend on how competitive your business market is and of course how much time and effort you put into it. Generally there is no substitute for hard work, although the Black Hat brigade would probably disagree with this.

I hope this article has been of some help to anyone trying to unravel the mysteries that surround link building. If anyone has any questions simply email me through our website.

Then the cat was let out of the bag, everybody figured out the magic recipe for top rankings, reciprocal links + keyword ancor text. The reciprocal link exchange boom was on. Everyone was trying to get more links faster than their competition, so software was released to help meet the growing need of more links.

I needed another edge so I started buying links, mostly run of site links. So I would get my text link on every page of a site. After doing this with a couple of sites, I would be back in the top position in no time. It was really fun! Think about it, $100 every 30 days to get thousands of visitors every single day. Things were going great, I had tons of traffic and most of my competitors spending a fortune with Adwords for a small percentage of the traffic I was bringing in.

It wasn't long before every webmaster knew about buying text links, soon it was like an arms race only with links. It is inevitable that when that many people find out about something so powerful there's going to be abuse, which attracts attention, especially that of the search engines and when that happens the party is usually over So I looked at top ranking site's for terms like shoes, clothes, gifts etc. Everyone was trying to get more links faster than their competition, so software was released to help meet the growing need of more links. Now I am really excited because all I have to do is get one way links to my site's from relevant content pages. All I have to do at this point is come up with an angle that will get relevant sites to link to me without getting a link in return.

Then it hit me, create a triangle of sites linking to each other, A would link to B, B would link to C and C would link to A, of course this will solve all my problems. How difficult can it be?

Extremely Difficult

What a joke.

First it took weeks to find two sites willing to participate, then they wanted to put the links on irrelevant and spammy links pages. Next big issue was webmasters that wanted two of their websites in the triangle, both of which had the same IP#, this was like putting putting up a flashing neon sign that read "Link Scheme". Then there was quite a few shady operators who were actively seeking triangle links who wanted a good link from you, but wanted to link back from a link farm. What a bad idea this turned out to be, a month and not one quality link. Where did I go wrong? And how the heck did I end up on this path to nowhere?

I look back now and think about the time that I spent trying to decieve the search engines could have been spent producing some valuable and useful content that would have naturaly attracted one way links. Took a while for the light to come on, but real content is a sure way to get quality one way links. Plus if you have quality content it makes soliciting for one way links much easier. Though it may sound difficult at first, creating solid content and practicing ethical SEO strategies is the only proven recipe for long term success.

Next week we’ll exam ways to get quality one way links to your site.

One way link building is the core part of search engine marketing. There are many simple ways to obtain one way links: directories, articles, press releases, and most importantly social bookmarking. When you submit your website to a directory, the directory has an editor take a look at your website and either approve or deny it based on their rules. If you are approved, you will gain the all important one way link pointing to your website. Directories need to accept new submissions to keep their content fresh. This makes the search engines and consumers happy.

Social Bookmarking gives YOU all of the power. You select your site and use a social bookmarking website to gain one automatic backlink. It does not stop there! Then, you add tags to the listing. The secret here is that you get a link to your site on every single tag page as well. That can result in anywhere from 10 to 20 one way links per social bookmarking site! You must make sure that your website offers unique, relevant, highly valuable content. If it does, other people will bookmark your website as well. The more people bookmark your site, the better traffic you will gain from that social bookmarking website.

Social Bookmarking is the best way to create an internet buzz about your products or your company. If you offer unique content that people will find useful, you have outstanding odds of ending up on the front page of social bookmarking websites. If your link is on the frontpage, you will receive a large amount of traffic for the effort.

If you do not offer outstanding content on your website, you will still gain the all important one way links to your website. Even negative reviews of your site will not change the ways the search engines see your link. Search engines look for new relevant content. All you have to do is provide it to them!

The most important aspect of social bookmarking is spam. Most sites allow their users to either vote on the importance of a site, or allow them to ignore you and your site slowly goes away. Don’t ruin this great opportunity for the other internet marketers out there. Social bookmarking is based on the idea of a sites popularity being decided by the visitors of that site. Make sure you are adding important sites that you use every day to these sites, as well as your own personal websites. Social bookmarking is meant for the entire community to enjoy. You should cater your bookmarks to a person that would find them, not the major search engines. You can be sure that the search engines will figure out how to find social bookmarking spam, just like they’ve found all of the other spamming methods.

Link exchanges are a thing of the past. The only time when link exchanges work is when they provide useful information and products to your customers. Otherwise, link exchanges are nearly useless. Search Engines have figured out the idea behind the link exchange and have lowered the value of exchanged links to almost nothing.

Links are the most important aspect of search engine optimization, according to all three of the major search engines. Even the links you use inside of your website count. MSN, Yahoo, and Google all analyze your site’s inner linking structure to figure out what keywords are most important to your website. This is the best way for them to find which keywords are important in regards to your company. Spamming of search engines is on the rapid decline, because search engines have become smarter than most of us. Use your head and you should be soaring to the top of the search engines in no time!

The first step in any link building campaign should be to make sure that links exist on sites that you already do business with. It is usually simple to get links in such places, and they will more than likely remain there for quite an extensive amount of time. When starting out, make sure to have links in the following places:

• Vendors and suppliers websites.

• Trade associations.

• The Chamber of Commerce.

• Friends’ websites.

• Customers’ websites.

• Trade groups and associations websites.

Once your links have been placed with the aforementioned sites, there are numerous other steps that can be taken to efficiently build links.

Directories and Verticals

If you are serious about your website, you will definitely want to have it listed in all of the major directories, and if your website is industry specific, being listed with an appropriate vertical that services your industry will be extremely valuable. Major directories to be listed in include:

• Yahoo

• GoGuides

• Joeant

• DMOZ

• Business

Some of these major directories charge a fee, while some are free of charge, but do take longer to list your link. If you need to find out if your industry is serviced by a vertical, a quick search on the Internet will provide you with the answer.

How to Obtain Links

There are a variety of places, as well as ways in which to obtain links. There always seems to be a difference of opinion among webmasters as to what works and what doesn’t work when it comes to link building. You will need to examine your specific needs, as well as what kind success you hope to have with your website in order to determine what will work for you. Some of the ways to obtain links are as follows:

• Unique Content-Having unique content on your site may draw webmasters who place a link to your site on theirs. This is often referred to as a “natural link.”

• Reciprocal Links-This is simple, you trade links with another website. This is usually only beneficial if both websites are targeting the same market, but are not in competition with one another. This is commonly referred to as “link trading.”

• Writing Articles-Getting articles published online that you write is a great way to build links, as it affords you the opportunity to place a link to your site within the text of the article. Hence, the more articles you write and get published, the more links you will be gaining.

• Message Boards and Blogs- Adding a link within the signature line of posts that you make to message boards and blogs is a good way to get free advertising and build links. However, be sure to only post on high quality sites, and only on those sites that pertain to the essence of your own websites’ content.

Another way to find places for your links is to simply search for them! There are virtually thousands of sites that will allow you to place a link for free, or for a very nominal charge. To find these sites, use any major search engine and type in any of the following search phrases:

• “submit a site”

• “submit your site”

• “submit a URL”

• “submit your URL”

• “list a site”

• “add a site”

• “add your site”

• “add a link”

• “add your link”

You will discover many different sites where you can add your link. Do a bit of research, and make sure that you are placing links on quality websites that are offer relevant, authoritative information.

Since there are so many different ways to build links, you are sure to find a way that works great for you, and that will raise the ranking of your website. Remember that it is the quality of links, and not necessarily the quantity of links that is important.

One-Way Links That Are Relevant
A one-way link is created when a website links directly to your website and you do not link directly back to that particular site. Google and other major search engines place a lot of emphasis on one-way links. Think of one-way links as a form of balloting system. Each link that points to your website from another website is casting a vote of support for your site. The more one-way links pointing to your website, the more votes of support you have. As the number of votes increases, so will your Google PageRank and subsequently your search engine placement. It's also important to keep in mind the relevancy of the links. A link is considered Relevant if it is coming from a source that contains similar content or services and can be categorized into the same category as your own. Links of higher relevancy are weighted heavier in search engine algorithms, so your goal will be to try to obtain as many one-way relevant links as possible.

Directory Submission
Submit your website to as many directories as possible. The two heavy hitters are The Open Directory Project (ODP), more formally known as DMOZ, and Yahoo!. When submitting your website, be sure to read the rules for each directory carefully. It's important to place your website in the appropriate category that is most relevant to your website content.

Link Services
Perhaps the most effective method of achieving one-way links is to sign up for a link program, such as Free Links Direct. These sites maintain a system that provides a steady stream of links that increase month over month. It's important that one-way links come at a gradual pace as the search engine algorithms will view this as a natural progression. One mistake many users will make is to sign-up for a link directory where they go from 0 incoming links to 200 incoming links in one day only for that number to remain stagnant over the next few months. This is a huge mistake as you can possibly be penalized by the search engines. Websites need to show a steady progression of links to be the most effective. Services such as Free Links Direct are free to the user and provide one-way relevant links and a very solid service on which to start your link campaign on.

Article Submission
With any website, you get out what you put in. You'll want to promote your website as much as possible and get the word out that you're site is online and providing services, products, or information that internet users can't live without. A very effective way to spread the word about your website, while at the same time generating valuable one-way links, is to write articles and submit them to online article directories. There are literally thousands and thousands of websites that act as news agencies and article stores. Every time a website publishes your article, you increase your website exposure and extend your reach to more users. Perhaps just as valuable, you'll receive one-way links from each location the website is published. Manually locating and submitting articles can be tedious, to say the least. Fortunately there are some excellent free services that will make your job easier. Article Sender provides a free service that will blast your article submissions to a very large number of article directories and websites.

Blogs
If you have not already done so, start a Blog. Blogs are a great source of information for users and offer more avenues to increase exposure of your website while creating a one-way link. Blogs also get indexed by search engines, creating yet another avenue to help increase your one-way links.

Testimonials
Companies will often post user testimonials on their website as a marketing ploy to install trust into visitors so they can increase sales conversions. Find a site that provides a product or service you generally love and offer to write a testimonial in exchange for a link to your site. Chances are you'll find more than one website that will be more than happy to post your testimonial.

Of course, the best way to create one-way links is to let them come naturally. By providing quality content and a professional design, you'll be one step closer to achieving high search engine rankings as users link to you. Remember, you can't expect your site to be ranked in the top 10 overnight. Give yourself time, develop your content, keep things fresh and interesting, and always develop for the user. Success will come to those who focus on what's most important to their website; people.

These days, age and content presently play the most important roles in effective search engine optimization. Gone are the day one could simply stuff META tags with relevant keywords and hope for the best. As search engines have become more savvy in collecting fresh data around the Internet, it is no longer necessary to continually submit sites to search engines, so what else is left for the SEO to do to insure high rankings?

Search engines like a site with age - the longer a site is establish, the more trusted the content is deemed to be. Sites with relevant, fresh content are well-liked - the more a site has to contribute, the more attention it will receive. Yet, with these two factors is a third procedure that has always existed and has never gone out of style. A site's link popularity is equally important.

Link popularity refers not only to the number of outbound links connected to your website, but to the number of related websites that link back to yours as an important resource. The more relevant sites linking back to yours, naturally, increases your site's popularity in that particular subject in the eyes of search engines. Search engines give precedence to such websites, deeming them as authoritative sources. Therefore, it is important when building your website that you seek out relevant sources that may be interesting in linking back. The owner of a website about a particular baseball team, for example, may seek sites related to the baseball team, individual players on that team, the town where the team is based, and sites related to baseball or sports in general.

Building Link Popularity

In the matter of finding websites for potential linking relationships, sometimes it is as simple as an Internet search. However, one must be careful not to go overboard in achieving inbound linkage. Be selective of sites to contact, and establish a friendly relationship with the webmaster that does not appear overtly demanding or intrusive. If you are able to assist other sites by linking back to them, make an offer to do so. As you look for quality websites for linking, be sure that the outbound links on your website are also quality, as the quality of an outside site that links to yours also may determine your site's value in search.

Link Farms and Lists

Oftentimes in your search for potential link partners you will find websites with special "link directories" through which anybody can submit a site for inclusion. Look closely and you may find such sites have adopted a special code from a webmaster's resource site to build this directory. You may find hundreds, even thousands, of sites linked, but how many are actually relevant to the parent site?

Such directories are known as "link farms," and are often the target of spam and/or adult websites seeking to boost their own link popularity. To have a quality site associated with such a directory can be detrimental to your site's value in search, therefore it is strongly recommended to avoid these directories. It is better to have ten links from quality, trusted websites than 1000 links from spam sites, regardless of the page ranks bestowed upon them by Google or other search engines.

As thousands of new websites are launched daily, learn to sift the wheat from the chaff as you build your online relationship, and find relevant quality sites with whom you can building linking relationships. Link building is an ongoing process in SEO, and ultimately a beneficial one for all parties involved.

Rushing Traffic to one’s own Website: Lots of visitors should be coming in. A theme that links one with the other enriching the visitor also enriches the link partners with business. Somebody comes to a website away from you. The reciprocal links come to work and can bring the visitor to your website. The more your linkages are, the better your visibility will be.

• Your website will go up in ranking: The keywords and the number of links are essential for the search engine to reach your website through direct or reciprocal links. So it is beneficial to get linked to websites with similar themes.

• Rich content of Your Website: What is rich content? It is the ability to enrich the visitor with information, new looks out and improved vision. It is quite possible that you and not provide all to most of the visitors. So what to be done? One has to be cementing with other like minded websites with clever positioning. One should take a stand from where the visitor knows exactly about what he/she is looking for. Some visitors may be lost after ending up at your website, so it is better to help them out into safety with better knowledge dissemination while traveling out of the site.

• The more linking one does; the more credible one becomes: When you place a link with others, others put a reciprocal link to you. In that process, the reader realizes that your are referred by a number of sites and hence the credibility of your site goes up. Don’t think that you are the only one with good source to everybody. By becoming one out of so many, you become important. Web traffic is of course important, but your image also builds up in the process.

• Be reachable to all in the Internet Community: Link building is free advertising the website. With every link you reach a section of web audience. When you reach, you are traversing a path that it is traffic which people follow to reach you. When people with similar interests interact through and because of you, you are considered to be a serious component of the community which increases credibility.

• Website affiliation : the other road towards link building : Without your initiation, there will be some websites that will link up to you, which means that some traffic will end up at your doorstep, which gives an illusion of an affiliation to another website. It results in increasing credibility and visibility and you will be better recognized.

Your site can be submitted to relevant directories that take link building started. It should be done as early as possible. Time is money and you can immediately start benefiting as soon as you get underway.

When a owner of another website places a link to your website on his site and you in return place a link to his website on your own website a reciprocal link is established.
It is an agreement made between 2 website owners to place exchange links.

How to build reciprocal links?

Step 1
List out websites with good page rank which are related to your own website.
Along with their URL, e-mail ID , Title and description. These details will help you at a later stage to make link requests.

Step2
E-mail each of the website owners from your list stating that you have visited their website and interested to exchange links with them. Mention the details about your own website also in this mail. Like the title , URL and the description.

Step3
Wait for the website owners to respond to your e-mail. Once you receive a positive response from any of the webmasters add their link to your website and checkout if the webmaster of the other site has added your link to their website.

Points to consider while going in for reciprocal link exchange.

1, Do not exchange links with websites which is only crowded with links and has no content at all. This kind of websites are called link farms. Links from links farm spoil your ranking on search engines.

2, Exchange links with websites which has a Page rank higher than the page rank of the website of your own.

3, The content of the website you are reciprocating should be related to the website content of yours.

4, The links page of the website you are considering to exchange links should have a link to their links page from their home page.

5, Never exchange links with porn websites, Casio websites, Drug websites, and illegal websites because search engines may penalize your website for exchanging links with illegal websites.

6, Provide minimum of two weeks time for the webmasters of other websites to place your link on their website. Because webmasters of good quality sites are busy people.

Inbound links

Inbound links are also called as one-way links. Links pointing out to your website from other websites are called one-way links. This kind of links are given more importance by the search engines. It is good to obtain as many one-way links as possible to climb up on search engines.

Submit your website to directories which list your website on their listings.
There are hundreds of free directories available on the net which provide one way links. While making directory submissions choose the most appropriate category to which your website belongs this way you increase the chance of your website link being published in the directories.

Article submissions:
Write useful articles related to the services or products you sell through your website. Do not for get to place text links on these articles pointing out to your website. The text on the link should be a keyword which best suits your website. There are chances that net browsers like to your article or place your article on their website with a link to your website or directly link to your article. This way articles bring in a lot of traffic to your website.

Software submission:
There are many websites on the net which accept software submissions. If your company has come up with an software you can submit these to the software directories with a download url on your website. This another good way to build one way links.

Or you can make a generous donation to the needful and write an article describing the help you have done to others and submit it to the press release websites.

Choose a forum which discusses topics related to your website and participate in the forum by contributing useful information when ever you make a signature make sure you include a link to your website.

Create blogs:
Create a blog of your own and update the content of the blog frequently this way people will become regular visitors of your blog and place a link to your actual website on the blog and naturally people will start visiting your website too. Search engines give lot of importance to blogs because they contain fresh updated content. You can also submit the RSS feed of your blog to search engines and RSS Directories.

Above mentioned are the 6 best methods to build one way links to your website and drive more traffic naturally. One way links also help your website to get on top 10 rankings on all major search engines.

Best of luck on building good links to your website.

Using unique and relevant title to name each page.
Editing web pages to replace vague wording with specific terminology relevant to the subject of the page, and that the audiences that the site was developed for will expect to see on the pages, and will search with to find the page.
Increasing the amount of unique content on the site.
Writing quality content for the website visitors instead of the search engines.
Using a reasonably-sized, accurate description meta tag without excessive use of keywords, exclamation marks or off topic terms.
Ensuring that all pages are accessible via anchor tag hyperlinks, and not only via Java, Javascript or Macromedia Flash applications or meta refresh redirection; this can be done through the use of text-based links in site navigation and also via a page listing all the contents of the site (a site map).
Allowing search engine spiders to crawl pages without having to accept session IDs or cookies.
Developing "link bait" strategies. High quality websites that offer interesting content or novel features tend to accumulate large numbers of backlinks.
Participating in a web ring with other quality websites.
Writing useful, informational articles under a Creative Commons or other open source license, in exchange for attribution to the author by hyperlink.

1) First of all, you should only use keyword phrases that are contained in the page content of your web page as well. Otherwise you may be suspected as attempting to mislead search engines.

2) Secondly you should separate every different keyword phrase with a comma then a space.

3) Thirdly you should never use the same word in keyword phrases next to each other.

4) Fourthly you should never use the same single keyword more than three times.

5) Fifthly you should never repeat a keyword phrase in the Keyword Meta Tags.

6) Sixthly you should position your most important keyword phrase near the start of your Meta Tag Keywords. There is not great value in having more than 6 keyword phrases per page, and having more than 9 may have a detrimental effect.

A good example of Meta Keywords

A good example of Meta Keywords is as follows. Note that it is assumed that all of the following keyword phrases are included in the page content.

HOW CAN YOU CREATE RETURN TRAFFIC

* The first one is obvious: Have a great site! Filled it with high quality content! If you aren't 100% sure on how to do it, you can read: "How to Sell on the Web" that's the best book you can read about how to create return traffic to your site

* Update it continuously to retain the interest of your visitors. Add unique, fresh and interesting content every now and then, and if you can, improve the content you already offer to tempt return traffic. (Do it once or twice a month).

* A good idea could be to add a "What's new" page or graphic, or somehow inform your return traffic about your recent developments.

* Remind people to bookmark your site. Remembering Internet addresses is difficult, so only bookmarks can assure you that you won't be losing return traffic

* Start a newsletter. Even if people bookmarks your site, they are unlikely to ever return once they leave. Editing a newsletter takes a lot of work, but gives large rewards in return. If you can get your visitors to subscribe to your newsletter, when you send them e-mail with your newsletter, they won't forget you, and you won't be accused of spamming.

* Give something valuable for free, and better yet if you can give away every month something different.

* Open a discussion forum. A well-moderated discussion forum can become a good source of return traffic to your site. (Keep a periodic surveillance to remove offensive content). And be careful, don't start your forum if your site isn't enough popular, or else the forum won't be frequented by many users, and there will be very few new messages and very few return traffic.

* If you want return traffic, make your address easy to remember. What's easier to remember?

1) The first thing you want to do is forget about submitting your site directly to the big engines like Google, MSN, Yahoo. This is the old, slow way.

2) Now the next thing you want to do is look online for free online directories and websites to submit your site to. Just type Free Search Engine Friendly Directory List into your favorite search engine. This should give you a good number of websites to start with.

3) Once you have found a list of free directories you can start submitting or suggesting your website. Be sure to place your website into the proper related categories. Try to look for directories that have a page rank of at least 2 to 3 to submit to first. They hold a bit more weight with Google Search than a 0 to 1 page rank sites.

4) Be sure to use a text link with your keyword phrases when submitting rather than just your URL. This will help search engines determine what keywords to index your website under.

That’s it. It is that simple. Google Search and other search engines will find your website link while crawling websites and directories already indexed. Search engines look at this a vote for your site. Because most directories are human edited and if your link has been approved, engines like Google Search realize that your website must have some value.

Note: Not all directories will approve your site submission so you want to continue to find new link possibilities as this is also an excellent way to build link popularity.

Online press releases, as I have mentioned before, is one way of putting more publicity in business without having to spend a dime. Aside from sending press releases to writers who writes the same pitch as your story, press releases may also be sent through various existing press release sites. Some of these sites are offered for free, while others charge a posting. But do not worry of the cost of the sites that charge, often, the charge is less than you imagined. I would like to suggest some sites that are very user-friendly: prweb.com, pressbox.co.uk, bacons.com, enewsrelease.com, and webwire.com.

Publishing one’s articles online is also another great way of getting publicity. I have mentioned this before and I have found out that there are also several websites that cater to these articles, especially featured articles. You could try sending your articles on the following email addresses, or better yet you could visit these sites and send the articles there:

editor@saintrochtree.com
content@yahoogroups.com
newsletter@webpromote.com
publishinyours@onelist.com

For more list of these kinds of sites, just type-in article submission to any kind of search engine and you will get lots of results. You could also prefer to include a bio/contract/resource box at the end of your article. This is completely free and it may bring you more response compared to paid advertisements. Just remember to include contact information on your business and background information.

There are many many ways to get traffic to your website. Which method you will use will depend on what you are promoting on your site and how much you can afford to spend on promotion.

It is important that your traffic is targeted, there is no point in getting 100,000 people to a site that sells something they are not interested in. You are much better off getting 100 people to a site that are looking for that product, they will be much more likely to want what your site has to offer them.

Here are some common methods for getting more visitors to your website:

· Search Engine Optimization
· Pay Per Click Ads
· Link Building
· Writing Articles
· Forums/Discussion Groups
· Ads
· Offline

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) - In order to start doing SEO you need to choose keywords (or keyword phrases), then optimize your site for those keywords. Don't just pick a word that describes your product (like 'handmade soap') and start working. You need to research your keywords. This is very important because you want to find keywords that are going to bring you the most targeted traffic, and if you are competing with thousands (or hundreds of thousands) of other sites it will be difficult to get a high ranking in the search engines. You will also have to get your site indexed with the search engines to start working your way up to top ranks in the search results. Yahoo and Google are two important search engines to be sure you are listed in.

Pay Per Click (PPC) - PPC is a great way to start seeing immediate results for your efforts. You create an ad, pick the amount you are willing to pay, and then when someone clicks on your ad you pay for that click. It is also very important to target your keywords to get targeted buying traffic heading to your site. Be careful that you are not spending more on ads than you will make from the sales, this is why tracking is very important. Here are two sites where you can set up Pay-per-click campaigns:

Overture – http://www.overture.com
Google Adwords – http://www.adwords.google.com

Link Building - Link building is another way to get qualified traffic to your website. If you are comfortable linking to other competing sites you could contact the site owner and request they exchange links with you. There are also many other types of sites that you could do a link exchange with, anything that relates to your products and industry. I once contacted a site owner to request a link exchange, she email me back and suggested she do an article on my company and products (and she was a professional writer with a published book)! So you never know what could happen once you start contacting people, this is also another form of networking.

Writing Articles - You might be thinking.... ‘I can’t write articles, I’m not a writer'. Well let me assure you, you can. Writing about what you know isn’t hard, and when you speak from the heart you’ll be amazed at how much you can actually write. By writing articles and submitting them to different article submission sites you will gain credibility in your industry and exposure to your site by providing a link at the end of the article. Here are a few sites where you can submit articles, there are many sites so do a search and find the ones that are right for you:

Ezine Articles – http://www.ezinearticles.com
Lady Pens – http://www.ladypens.com
Idea Marketers – http://www.ideamarketers.com
Go Articles – http://www.goarticles.com
Isnare – http://www.isnare.com

Forums/Discussion Groups – Building relationships on relevant forums can be a very fun and rewarding experience. DO NOT join just to spam them with you site link, it will get deleted and you will likely get banned. Listen in for a while to get an idea of what kind of information is shared, then start asking questions, posting responses and starting new topics.

ADS – You can places ads on others sites, in newsletters, and any other places that will allow it. Some forums and discussion groups allow ads on certain days.

Offline – There are many places offline where you can advertise your site. Newpaper, Radio and Magazine ads are one way. You could hand out business cards with just your website and a catchy phrase. A great way is to get a decal for your car with your website on, people will see it wherever you go!

However you chose to start getting traffic to your site keep at it! It will often take time and patience. Be sure that you focus your efforts on targeted traffic so that the people you get to your site are interested in what you have to offer

1. One-way inbound links from websites with topics that are related to your website's topic will help you gain a higher page rank.

2. Other one-way inbound links from pages with high page rank but unrelated topics do help a little, but not nearly as much.

3. The number of links outbound from the website that links to you also determines the value of the link. A related website with 10 outbound links that links to you is much better than a related website with 100 outbound links that link to you.

The website I referred to above loves to state a lot of things as fact, such as,

1. Not Advertising

Too many people put together a decent Web site and then expect hundreds of searchers to find it on the WEB. They are sorely disappointed when no one does. To be successful in Internet Marketing you have to accept that advertising is the key that opens the door to riches. There are so many ways you can advertise your site from pay-per-click (perhaps the quickest and most popular) to Ezine advertising. Remember there are thousands of sites competing for the same business what makes your site stand out is good advertising, without it, attracting new customers to your site is slim.

The good news is that you don't have to spend a lot of money to advertise your site effectively. Writing articles and submitting them to ezines that represent the products you sell will bring targeted traffic to your site. You cannot get targeted web site traffic by spending $9.99 per thousand visitors.

2. Poorly Designed Web Site

If your web site looks like it has been thrown together by someone who 'will do you one for $20' it will be seen as just that. This not to say that you need to spend a $1000 having a site designed that is all singing and dancing (unless of course you need it to). There is plenty of help, web site templates and software available so you can design your web site to be user friendly without spending a fortune. Remember your WEB site is your shop front, it is your link with your customers and the more professional looking you can make it the more confidence your visitors will have in you.

3. Properly Optimized

Over 70% of online purchases come from search engine traffic. In other words they come from searchers entering a term in their browser and clicking on a site that appeals because the headline and advertising text appears to solve the problem they have.

Make sure your online marketing strategy includes some work on important keywords then scatter them throughout you web site making sure all the time that your content reflects your products and relevant keywords. The aim of this is to increase search engine traffic. You can uncover top searched keywords with programs such as Overture; Wordtracker and my favourite tool keyword elite.

4. Your Customer is King

Keeping your customers happy is vital to your future business; both offline and online existing customers will buy over and over if you keep them happy. Do not forget them! It is easy today to set up your autoresponder to contact your customers on a regular basis, monthly at least, keeping your name before them by offering interesting and helpful content will build there confidence in you as someone who really cares. Over 90% of purchasers online never hear from the person they bought from after the initial purchase. Another little tip which is vital in customer service put your contact details on your site, at least an email address. I do not advocate putting your phone number on your site as a client at the far side of the world may not appreciate that because they are wide awake where they are it is really 3 am where you are.

5. Keep Your Site Alive

Have you had a look at your own site lately... I am always amazed the number of sites I visit that do not change their content over a period of time. I am not saying that you should change the content daily but certainly keep your site fresh. When writing content there is always something you can alter just to freshen things up. If you do not you are possibly telling a potential customer that you are a dead site. Remember not everyone visiting your site will buy on their first visit. They may come back over and over before making that decision to go ahead, so changing your content at least on a six monthly basis will give them confidence knowing that you are in business to do business

In my offline business I stress to my clients the importance of competitor analysis and market research. Just because you have launched your product this work does not stop. Fortunately the tool I use for keyword analysis also has a programme that will automatically monitor you main competitor sites to see if they have changed the keywords the bid on and other things.

I hope that by following the simple rules above you will experience the difference between success and failure whether you are new to online marketing or fairly experienced. Your WEB site is your business treat it the same as you would if you had a physical store, sweep the floor, alter your displays, make it interesting to the casual viewer and they will become your customers.

Traffic from Directories

Although, as mentioned earlier, directories arrived in the Internet scene before search engines did, search engines have become the more popular way for searching websites. With the advent of search engines people have come to question the viability of directories and whether people still use them to search for websites. In David Wallace’s article on Directories and Your SEO Campaign – Love ‘Em or Hate ‘Em, he found the answer to this question by going to his web servers that track all the activity in his websites. He found that not surprisingly most of his traffic came from search engines but that there were some directory referrals that still existed as well. Though it is true that in comparison to the traffic that search engines generate for web sites the traffic from directories seem measly, a website owner should not discount the importance of this traffic. As they say every cent counts, rather, every visitor counts.

SEO and Directories

Directories, however, have a new use for website owners, especially those who are SEO conscious. SEO people know that link popularity is very important when it comes to scoring well in order to get higher page ranks and thus get listed among the top results of search engines’ results pages (SERPs).

There are two important factors in link popularity. One is the quantity of links and the other is the quality of links. SEO Directories help websites in that they are able to boost a website’s link popularity as soon as a website is added to the directory. This is because the directories can pass a large quantity of links from various websites belonging in the same category of a specific website. In addition to this good directories are selective in the quality of websites they allow to be added in their listing. Hence, the quality of links passed on by directories is almost always of good quality. So once a website is listed in a directory it is almost always sure that the site’s link popularity will rise and so will the site’s page rank.

New Websites and Directories

SEO directories are also very useful for new websites in that web crawlers usually crawl directories and get to index new sites from there. Although a website can submit its URL to search engines, search engines prefer automated indexing of sites. Aside from getting noticed by search engines new sites should keep in mind that being listed in a good directory will automatically give them a good link popularity instead of the site having to build it up slowly. It is possible for a new site to establish high link popularity without being part of a directory but it would take much effort and time and will most probably not even happen to many websites unless the site is if superior quality.

Choosing a Good Directory

When choosing a directory to submit your website to, there are several factors to keep in mind: the directory’ reputation or quality, the cost of getting listed, the length of time it takes to get listed upon submission. In the last few years there have been quite a number of new directories that have popped up. However some of these directories offer virtually no quality control and tend to accept any kind of website that submits themselves for listing. Although the nature of directories are supposed to be such that only sites of quality get listed, the new breed of indiscriminate directories, whose real purpose is to simply build link popularity for the websites has marred the reputation of directories as a whole. Google and other search engines of course quickly caught on to the new questionable practice of trying to get higher link popularity in this way. Because of this Google has been banning some directories and have given less value to the links found in others. This is entirely justifiable since link popularity, as mentioned earlier, depends on the quality of links, and since the directories accept websites of even low quality then naturally the value of links from these sites is going to low. It is therefore imperative that website owners do some research on the web directory they plan to submit their website to since and submit to only those with sound reputation.

Cost is also always a factor in choosing directories. For low budget sites there are plenty of directories out there that offer free listing. Usually the free listing of course comes with conditions like slower processing time, being required to have a reciprocal link, or being a volunteer editor. The condition that comes with it is worth it though and shouldn’t be a big issue. The free directories usually give websites the option of not having to deal with the conditions if the website opts to pay a minimal one time fee. The only directory that remains to be truly free is the Open Directory or Dmoz. Websites aren’t given the option to pay but the processing time is reputed to be particularly long especially if the volunteer editor of the website’s category is not very active. The length in processing time is however worth it for quality sites since Dmoz is known for accepting only websites of high quality. There are also plenty of options for paid directories out there with prices ranging from a $25 one time fee to as much as a $299 annually recurring fee. Whatever directories you choose to submit to, whether paid or free or a combination of both, remember that the quality of the directory should be your first consideration. Remember also that before you do submit your website for listing on any directory be sure that you have made your site as appealing, full of fresh and quality content, and as of high quality as possible. This would not only ensure inclusion in the directories’ listings but would determine your site’s success as well.

Today the internet not only created the power of keywords but it also handed this power totally to the customer. It is the customer who decides which keywords he/she wants to choose, and the advertiser would need to do huge efforts to appear and show his/her business according to the customer's search terms.

The power of keywords is used in most of the internet marketing tools, such as:

1-Search Engine Optimization
2-Link Directory submission
3-Article writing
4-Pay Per Click
5-AdSense
6-Link exchange
7-Even Posting in Forums.

The huge power of keywords has the final say in the success or failure of your online business. You could have the best product and a great sales process from beginning to end, but if your keywords selection is not well studied that could mean the end of your online business.

If you have the financial resources you can hire experts to do this task for you, but if you are starting an online business with a limited budget then not only you will not be able to afford the services of such experts, but also you will not have all the time in the world for trial and error.

You will need a tool that has two main features; first it should be inexpensive and second it should give you immediate feedback.

In this article I would give you a list of suggested steps that you can follow which will give you the following benefits:

1-To be able to start your business as fast as possible.

2-To accommodate for your limited budget.

3-Get quick feedback.

The suggested steps are as follows:

1-Keyword research: There are various tools that you can use to research keywords that could be the most suitable for your business. Of course the ideal goal is to find a list of keywords that have minimum competition with high search volumes. Since this is not an ideal world then you should come up with keywords that can be as close as possible to this ideal goal.

2-Check your competition: You can take a look at your competition and see what keywords they have constructed they websites around. Depending on your general strategy and the type of competition, you can choose either to along with the same keywords as your competition, or decide to go as far as possible from them and target a different niche.

3-Construct your website around the keywords you have finally decided on.

4-Concentrate all your marketing activity around these keywords

5- Put aside a portion of your marketing budget for Pay Per Click

6-Use Adwords as the amount of traffic there will be able to give you immediate feedback.

7-Learn the ins and outs of adwords before stepping into it. Again, do not get into adwords before teaching yourself all there is to be learned. I would advise you to get Perry Marshall's e-book on this topic.

8-Test the keywords that you have selected.

a.If the outcome is satisfactory then you do not need to change any of the previous work you have done on your website and other marketing activities.

b.If the outcome is not satisfactory then you need to continue your keyword research and adwords trials until you find the list of keywords that would bring you the traffic and sales that you require. When you do find these keywords, go back to all your previous marketing activity starting at your website content moving down to all your other marketing activities to accommodate for the new keywords.

c.Now that you have found the list of keywords that can bring you the quality of traffic that you desire, you can expand in different ways:

i.Target other niches within your industry.
ii.Build other online businesses.

The Power of Keywords cannot be explained in one article, but I hope I was able to give you a good flavor and an understanding of the importance of positioning your online business through the selection of keywords

Fortunately, there are many tools that have been created to aid web masters in each of these tasks.

Below I have reviewed 7 of the top SEO tools so that you can quickly find out what your site needs to rise in the search engines.

First up is the "Cool SEO Tool". I'll let you decide whether or not it lives up to its name.

You simply enter your keyword and the system will begin comparing 9 different metrics for the top 10 rankings. This allows you to quickly compare the Yahoo rank, MSN rank, Google pages indexed, altavista pages indexed, backlinks to page, backlinks to domain, allinanchor rank, age of url, and whether or not the phrase is on the page.

XML-Sitemaps

Google wants to make sure that webmasters have a way of communicating information that is important about their sites. To accomodate this, they created Google Sitemaps in 2005. Using this tool, you can tell Google when you have created new pages and how often your pages are updated. To get your pages indexed as quickly as possible, it is in your best interest to create a sitemap for Google as well as for Yahoo.

Unfortunately, finding a sitemap generator that is easy to use can be a frustrating task. However, after a lot of digging, I think I've found one that you will like.

At xml-sitemaps.com, they have created a sitemap generator that enables you to create a xml sitemap for Google and a text-based sitemap for Yahoo. In addition, the generator can also create an optional HTML sitemap for human visitors.

Go to http://www.xml-sitemaps.com for step-by-step instructions on how to get started.

Ultimate Keyword Tool

Keywords are the lifeblood of any site. Choose the wrong ones and your site will quickly fizzle. Choose the right keywords and you will start to see an abundance of traffic as well as sales. The key is choosing keyword phrases that aren't viciously competitive and convert well into sales.

For example, did you know that keyword phrases that are 3-5 words long convert into sales much more often than any other keyphrase length? Not to mention, these longer keyword phrases are also usually much easier to rank for.

One of the best keyword tools is provided by SeoBook.com.

You simply enter in a keyword or phrase and hit sugggest. Once you have done this, the keyword tools will return a variety of data, including:

overture suggestions of additional keywords

top overture bid prices

estimated monthly search volume

number of Google, Yahoo, and MSN search results

Wordtracker keyword suggestions

Google traffic Estimates

synonyms and....

additional related keywords using the Adwords keyword tool

What is a website page title?

The page title is the writing in the blue bar at the top of a web page, and originates in the Meta Tags, which are a set of instructions for search engines and technicians at the beginning of your web page. These Meta Tags are not displayed in the normal view of your website. However, (assuming your are using Internet Explorer) all you have to do is click on the ‘View’ tab at the top of the page and then select ‘Source’ to view the code behind your website.

Your page title will be in-between the two ‘HTML Tags’ (which indicates the start and end of the page title).

Your page title is also shown as the clickable title link displayed in search results, if your site has been found using a search engine query.

The most common page title mistake that businesses make

Most businesses are proud of their brand name. Unfortunately that means that they want their brand name all over their website. Including all the areas that should be used for keyword phrases instead. Businesses HAVE to find a way to take independent advice AND act upon it without their brand coloured glasses on when deciding on their website page title.

How to write an effective page title

A page title should be between 10 and 60 characters long – including spaces. Any longer, and it may be cut when appearing in search engine results. It should ideally JUST be the keyword phrase that you have decided on for your page (Refer to The 10 Biggest Search Engine Optimization Mistakes: #1: Wrong Keywords).

A good example of an effective page title would be ‘Internet Marketing Consultant’.

The second best example of an effective page title would also include the brand name – for example, ‘David Bain - Internet Marketing Consultant’. This effectiveness of this title is however diminished compared to the first example.

The worst possible page title in this example would be ‘David Bain’. If found in search engine results, hardly anyone would visit the site because the title doesn’t denote what the website is about. In addition, the chances of appearing in desired search engine results would be reduced significantly due to the lack of keywords.

Remember to think about all your website pages – each page title on each page should be optimized. Not just your home page. A good example is the website http://www.BuildYourOwnBusiness.biz where all the business article categories have their own key phrase focused category pages. Take time getting your page titles right.

Let’s start with some examples that you go to a shopping mall to buy something. You must have your desired thing’s name in your mind and you start searching that thing in the shopping mall. Suppose that shopping mall as a whole internet and the shops in that mall’s are like search engines. You go to every shop and tell them about your desire. Now it’s the time of the proper narration of your desire. You tell them that I need shoe. And you don’t tell him about the brand and for whom you want. Shopkeeper got confused that either you want shoe for your own or you want shoe for your child or for your wife. He picks some sort of shoe and will give to select. When you start reviewing them you come to know that these are not that you want. You have wasted you time. To full fill your need you have to tell the shopkeeper about your requirements.

• What you want?
• For whom you want?
• What brand you want?
• What size you want?

These are all the things that you have to say to the shop keeper than you can get your desired thing according to your requirements.

The same way search engine works. They don’t know who are you? Why are you here? What is your need? You have to tell them about yourself other wise what happened they’ll guess about your need by their self and can give you the wrong result which is not that what you want. That is not only wastage of time also that wastage of money which is indeed a big loss as well.

Question is why we are emphasizing on keywords?

Because search engine doesn’t understand banners they can’t translate images on your sites. Keywords are the only that can be understandable by the search engine in your content. So here we came to know that don’t ever use much images on a page. Make your pages with the quality content.

What is quality content?

A quality content that is understandable by the human not only to the search engines. Second one is the proper placement of your targeted keywords. That’s called “keyword density” That doesn’t mean that plenty of keywords in the content and there is no understandable content. When we talk about the proper placement of keywords that mean use it where it’s needed. Mind it as I said before don’t make pages only for the search engine spider. Make it for the humans. Optimize every page for the target keywords. Don’t optimize only one page. As for search engine spider every page is an individual. It separately reviews them and gives them marks that we called Page Rank. The perfect keyword density will help you to achieve higher search engine positions.

What are you target keywords?

Target keywords are not that you are thinking about your business. That might be right but the proper way is to ask other people around you. Ask them that how they search your business on the internet. Like if you have service and you want to know what key phrase most of the people use on the internet for finding it. Get ideas from as many people as you can. Keyword suggestion tool are also plays very important role in it. Most popular the overture keyword suggestion tool that show the number of hit for that keywords as well.

Make a website that has a purpose that you can explain more and more. Find out the top keywords related to your business. Think like a visitor that what you need? How you get that on the internet? Ask many people that what phrase they us to find a service like you have. Also use word tracker to find out top rated keywords and with less competition.

• Content should be informative for the human and understandable as well. Use targeted keywords in the content. Use bold tag with some keywords not with all. As much you have worthy content page optimized with the related keywords. Here one thing that I want to mention is that make pages for the human not only for the search engines. Try to make many pages for your websites. Give some free services as well

• Domain name are very important. Choose domain name near to your keyword. For this choose the domain name after the keywords research.

• Don’t put your pages on long URL. Make short URL. Don’t use ‘? , &, %, $ characters in URL. Search engine don’t usually read these kinds of web pages.

• Don’t use framing in your websites. Search engine spider can’t read within the frame. So it doesn’t matter how quality content you have but as far as Google spider concern it doesn’t read.

• You must give a title to every page of your website as it is very useful for the sake of search engine spider.

• Use all your targeted keywords in Meta tags. That should be your top targeted keywords. And add description as well to make spider understand about you.

• Use ‘no follow’ tag with the modules like news module as well as with, send comment, print a page, etc.

• Don’t use banner as links. Always use text links because search engine spider can’t translate picture, banners. It may be very attractive for the viewer but not for the spider. So you have to make your website friendly for both human and as well as spider.

• Don’t use doorway pages or any Black SEO techniques. Don’t cheat with search engines as well as people also.

Google’s Guidelines:

Quality guidelines - basic principles

• Make pages for users, not for search engines. Don't deceive your users or present different content to search engines than you display to users, which is commonly referred to as "cloaking."
• Avoid tricks intended to improve search engine rankings. A good rule of thumb is whether you'd feel comfortable explaining what you've done to a website that competes with you. Another useful test is to ask, "Does this help my users? Would I do this if search engines didn't exist?"
• Don't participate in link schemes designed to increase your site's ranking or PageRank. In particular, avoid links to web spammers or "bad neighborhoods" on the web, as your own ranking may be affected adversely by those links.
• Don't use unauthorized computer programs to submit pages, check rankings, etc. Such programs consume computing resources and violate our Terms of Service. Google does not recommend the use of products such as WebPosition Gold™ that send automatic or programmatic queries to Google.

Quality guidelines - specific guidelines

• Avoid hidden text or hidden links.
• Don't employ cloaking or sneaky redirects.
• Don't send automated queries to Google.
• Don't load pages with irrelevant words.
• Don't create multiple pages, subdomains, or domains with substantially duplicate content.
• Don't create pages that install viruses, trojans, or other badware.
• Avoid "doorway" pages created just for search engines, or other "cookie cutter" approaches such as affiliate programs with little or no original content.
• If your site participates in an affiliate program, make sure that your site adds value. Provide unique and relevant content that gives users a reason to visit your site first.

Yahoo’s Guidelines

• Original and unique content of genuine value
• Pages designed primarily for humans, with search engine considerations secondary

What Yahoo! Considers Unwanted

• Pages that harm accuracy, diversity or relevance of search results
• Pages dedicated to directing the user to another page
• Pages that have substantially the same content as other pages
• Sites with numerous, unnecessary virtual hostnames
• Pages in great quantity, automatically generated or of little value
• Pages using methods to artificially inflate search engine ranking
• The use of text that is hidden from the user
• Pages that give the search engine different content than what the end-user sees
• Excessively cross-linking sites to inflate a site's apparent popularity
• Pages built primarily for the search engines
• Misuse of competitor names
• Multiple sites offering the same content
• Pages that use excessive pop-ups, interfering with user navigation
• Pages that seem deceptive, fraudulent or provide a poor user experience

MSN’s Guidelines:

• Use only well-formed HTML code in your pages. Ensure that all tags are closed, and that all links function properly. If your site contains broken links, MSNBot may not be able to index your site effectively, and people may not be able to reach all of your pages.

• In the visible page text, include words users might choose as search query terms to find the information on your site.

• Loading pages with irrelevant words in an attempt to increase a page's keyword density. This includes stuffing ALT tags that users are unlikely to view.
• Using hidden text or links. You should use only text and links that are visible to users.
• Using techniques to artificially increase the number of links to your page, such as link farms.

Black hat SEO:

Those people who use black hat SEO techniques they feel search engine as an enemy. They don’t follow their guidelines and use all the unethical ways to achieve the top ranking. They know that their success will not for long time.

Here are some black SEO techniques

Doorway Pages

Doorway pages are also called entry pages, jump pages and gateway pages etc. these pages are full of keywords made for the search engine to have high rankings. These don’t give any information to the humans on these pages usually the phrase written “Enter”. As far as search engines are concern they don’t like doorway pages at all. Well you can have these keywords by their proper placement in the content and also in title and Meta tags.

Link Farms

The strategy is all about creating sites for ranking purpose. So they can get more back links which will help them in SERPs. These sites don’t have any purpose. Search engines don’t like this as all. Have multiple domain linking to your main websites is good but have the same content or not useful information isn’t good at all according to Google.

Identical Content

Don’t use identical content within your sites. Copied content won’t work on search engine. Never make your content by just copying the other websites material. King Search engine Google banned the sites using this strategy.

Cloaking:

Cloaking is a method that allows you to show different pages for human and different ones for search engines. That is also not an ethical way of SEO as major search don’t like these methods. People also use to hide their strategies from SEO firms. The reason is that they actually miss leading the search engine as well as they miss leading the people as well. Search engine can’t reach the actual page Meta tags. Therefore they usually banned these sites.

Hidden Text:

This strategy is also for adding extra keywords within the website. For that purpose they hide those keywords by coloring them. People can’t see that words but search engine do. When they come to know they kick out the website.

Automated software:

Don’t use any automated software for the promotion purpose. They don’t really work and sometime they caused for banned a website. Don’t relay on them.

Gray hat SEO:

Use of black Hat SEO to achieve the white hat SEO results this term is called Grey hat SEO. Black hat SEO is wrong but not that wrong. They online get wrong when we miss use it. Like clocking not well but If we do the proper use and after clocking the page the people get the exact information what they are looking for. That’s only about the negative minded people who feel the search engines as their enemy and use the right techniques in wrong way.

Conclusion:

The people who are using the Black Hat SEO they actually are not only cheating with search engines they are also making people fool to show them that they are on the top and we can take your sites at top of every search engine guaranteed. Here I want to mention that no search engine refer anybody who offers guaranteed top ranking because nobody can give you that without following the roles and regulations. It might be possible but not for the long time for very short you can have. What will happen next your website will go into the darkness? They won’t inform you. There are no searches for you in the search engine. You’ll loss the 60- 80 % traffic. Now you can’t claim to any person or search engine. Your query to search engine will be delete as spam. This plenty will be a great financially loss for you.

One way is mouth to mouth marketing. In this you advertise your business’s website by telling everyone that is around you. That community of people is very short. If a person is not in that community and he is fully interested in your service at that time you are helpless.

2nd way is email marketing that you send “Electronic mail” to people around internet. But that method is good but not very useful. For example many people block that kind of mails as a spam. So the emails got deleted by their spam filter.

3rd way is that you entered your website into the online directories or search engines. Well there is not much difference between search engines and online directories. Directory is about the collection of many websites. People come to the directories in searching of their desired service. On the other hand search engine is also about a huge collection of websites. Now a days search engines are more familiar than directories. Experts say that 85% to 90% websites are visited though search engines. Search engines are the origin of internet marketing. Let’s take a look at some more ways.

o Blogs
o Articles
o Affiliate programs
o PPC advertising
o Banner advertising

Before describing all the aspects of search engine marketing (SEM) 1st talk about the term called “Search Engine Optimization”. SEO is a process to make any websites popular in the eye of search engine. Most of the search engines have a crawler that is also called spider as well. Spider visits every website’s single page and sees how much that website is helpful for human and according to its algorithm. Spider also sees that how many quality websites voting for you. After taking all these notice that website comes on the top of the search engine. As we all know that people usually concern with the search engine when they are looking for something over the internet. SEO’s terminologies can make your website useful for the human and friendly for the search engine. So you can get more visitors which is a very gainful thing for any online business.

Here are some more factors involve in ‘SEO’

 Webdesign template
 Website Content
 Internal linking
 Inbound link
 Meta tags
 Keywords

When you are doing any website’s search engine marketing you should have bewared of the behavior of search engine’s spider. There is no way to hide you or to cheat any search engine. There are 2 types of strategies used in SEO field.

 White hat SEO
 Black Hat SEO

White hat SEO:

This strategy is very simple that you make your website search engine spider friendly and follow its rules (algorithm) and criteria.

Black Hat SEO:

Black hat search engine optimization is that you don’t follow its rules (algorithm). And find out the shortcuts to achieve the top listing. All the search engines dislike that strategy.

There are many people who bet guaranteed top 10 positions in all the search engines. Don’t get fool by listening them. In some way they are right in getting any top 10 position but for that purpose they are cheating with the spider. When the search engine comes to know about the cheat they programmed their spider to kick out those websites who used this trick. After that what happened is that your sites will be gone into the darkness. Suddenly the traffic you are getting from any search engine comes down. And you will be panelized for some times or for longer. You can’t claim any body. Your email query will be return as a failure notice. This is the terminology that I have explained above “Black hat SEO”. Therefore I’ll suggest to follow White hat SEO. So you can get the static rank in any search engine. Well search engine ranking methods getting change day by day. Make various search engine marketing strategies, do some experiments as well. Take a bull’s eye on the movement of your site in the search engine

Use of the SEO or internet marketing tools is useful for making different affective strategies. As there are many tools available on the internet the only thing is to find out the best one. By using of SEO tools you can check your website popularity, rank. Not only that you also can check out your competitors. By monitoring them you’ll come to know many useful things. You also can find out the top rated keyword.
“Keywords are just the phrases that people use for searching their desired service into the search engines”
Keywords are much important in SEO marketing. You have to choose the right keywords that your website is optimize for. A website is optimized with irrelevant keywords will not drive any decent traffic for the long time. Linking to the other sites is very useful and easy internet marketing technique. There are 3 types of linking given below

 One way linking
 3 way linking
 Reciprocal linking

All means that you are putting other website’s html code on your webpage and other website’s owners put your websites codes on their web page.

There are many search engine optimization companies which are providing (SEM) and (SEO) services that help you to apply those techniques. Search engine never refer any seo firm. They always say that nobody can put your websites on the top. It has to be checked by the spider. Anyways that is not harm that you hire a search engine marketing firm who optimize your website in an effective way.

Internet marketing articles are also a useful source of information about SEO. Many SEM expert people usually write very informative article about search engines. They talk about the current search engine’s behavior. And by reading them you can make a better strategy.

Affiliate internet marketing is an other way of advertisement. You make some affiliate partners who place your product and services on their website. And start selling them. This is the best way of increasing sales of any product or service.

 Use email marketing strategy and use some efficiently and effectively email auto responders
 Focus on major search engines and optimized your websites with the keywords
 Do some link building and get some quality back link to your site.
 Don’t follow “Black hat SEO” rules.

NUMBER 1: Learn the SEO concepts.

SEO tries to ensure that your web pages appear at the top of the search engines for target keyword requests. It increases brand awareness, qualified traffic and revenue. Fact: Only 1/2 of the people visiting look at the sponsored (paid) ads (PPC) and only 20% of those actually click. However, 4 out of 5 total clicks - apply their mouse on natural search results. Therefore SEO done right can really elevate your business visibility and revenue. Additionally, the top 5 sites returned from any search are where the action is. Your goal? You should be in the top 10 (Search Engines Results Pages (SERPS)) for your selected keywords.

NUMBER 2: Research the competition.

I am sure you do this no matter what business you are in - whether online or not (brick and mortar). If not, this is one of the big steps missed by online businesses. There are techniques on how to do this effectively, quickly and with high quality results. Our August article on www.microsaw.com ("How To Use Search Engine Optimization to Destroy Your Competition in 3 Easy Steps") outlines how to do this.

NUMBER 3: Linking Strategies and Relevancy.

One of the most important things you can do is to build out your relevant linking neighborhoods. There are a number of great tools you can use to automate this, but we have found that via email and the phone (we are amazed by how many do not use the phone) -- you will establish a closer relationship with your virtual partners, and even though you may only spend an hour a day building link partners, it is well spent. Typically, only 1-2 will exchange links with you out of 8 companies called. However, let us say you get one quality link per day through the year. That is over 300 quality links that will help your relevancy, build your business and get your PR(Page Rank) level moved up.

NUMBER 4: Proper HTML and Site Building.

There are many articles written on this topic. If you are not HTML-savvy, it can be a challenge. However, it is not hard to learn, and many tools are available. Just search for free website design tools. Other SEO tools (ex: webconfs.com) can analyze your content, HTML syntax and appropriate application of tags like TITLE, H1, META tags, BODY content and more. You must also make notes of server-side issues, including IP numbers that may have belonged to (and still do) block listed ranges.

NUMBER 5: Meet The Search Engines.

Make sure you read the webmasters guidelines on all the search engines, especially Google, Yahoo and MSN. They actually are very helpful, and they want you to do well, contrary to what you believe or have heard. Also, keep in mind, there are robotic search engines, algorithmic based search engines and AI-type search engines - different styles of writing. Additionally, you must include listings in the directories, like DMOZ (free, but takes weeks to get listed), Yahoo (free, months - or paid, immediate). Lastly, you must study and learn the PPC (pay-per-click) strategies, learn how to write ads, copy writing for (cash) landing pages, and implement a solid back-end sales process. If you have never used the AdSense programs, you may be missing out on *significant* income, but many do it incorrectly. We have seen adsense programs go from $3.00/day to over $19,000/month.

NUMBER 6: Use a proven methodology.

None of the SEO "white hat" (opposite: "black hat" - unethical) strategies are rocket-scientists-qualified only. The key areas to keep working on are: a) keyword research, b) competitive analysis, c) analyze your own site(s), d) submit your site(s), e) monitor rankings, f) Reporting, g) link development and h) dynamic site mapping. This approach works, and used by many of the professional SEO companies in the industry.

NUMBER 7: Learn how to use the SEO tools.

Metaphor: For many home-owners, the worst thing that can happen when approaching any project, large or small - is not having your tool belt attached. Even worse, if there are tools missing from that belt after spending 15 minutes retrieving the ladder, lining it up just right, then scaling it just to get to the top of the roof -- you not only feel aggravated, but plain stupid.

Being affiliated with some of the guru-type tools & specialists in the industry is nice, but most people are not. Therefore, free tools are a good place to start (search for seo tools and seo email courses). These will help you get to work immediately, and you don not have to come down off the roof to get them.

NUMBER 8: Relevancy, Relevancy, Relevancy. Why be "search relevant"?

The objective here is to make the search engines "see". You must always ensure that you insert unique relevant content such that the page becomes more worthy of a high ranking in the search engines. You must also make sure you adhere to Style Guide Requirements. The ultimate objective is not to make an inferior page appear superior, but to actually make it superior. Yes, you must be relevant - for any site - be it a commerce/shopping type site, to an information page about Da Vincis life (and, if you have something to sell, that is great). Do not try any uncommon tricks, especially not for the search engines. You will regret it. There are too many sad stories of revenues and business lost from "black hat" strategies (cloaking, spamdexing, link farms). They appear to work for a little while, and suddenly you are gone from the listings and not easily turned around. Be relevant and ethical. It may take a little longer, but you will win out in the end.

Step 1 – Register a Domain Name that Matches a Search String

To make it easier to find a domain name, I bought some software that searches for names that correspond to search strings. Of course, most words in most languages are already registered as domain names. But the software did turn up a few strings that had a reasonable number of searches and had not been registered as domain names. So I picked a couple. I am a golfer and enjoy reading articles about golf on free article sites. So I picked a domain name related to golf, christmasgolfgift.com and registered it.

Step 2 – Build Site and Add Content that Matches the Site Name

I used a site builder that I quite like and am quite familiar with, so I had a site on line in a couple of days. I don’t sell golf gifts, so I had to find some content for the site. The site builder I use makes it easy to cut and paste articles from sites that offer these, so I set to work. In a couple of hours, I had a site filled with quality articles related to golf. I then joined some golf related affiliate programs and added these to the site.

Step 3 – Write Some Articles and Get Some Back Links

The next step was to get some back links. Since I enjoy golf and enjoy writing, it was not hard for me to start cranking out some golf related articles. I wrote some articles about places I had golfed recently, golf related things that truly interest me and experiences I was having on the course, and submitted these to article sites. Some articles I submitted directly and some I submitted using some submission software I bought. I also saved some time by using an article writing tool that came with the submission software. In total in the next week or so, I had about a dozen articles accepted by about a hundred sites, which at last count, yielded 11 back links recognized by the search engines.

Step 4 – Submit Google Site Maps

The site builder I use has built in Google site map and a built in site map submission tool, so this step was easy and took about twenty minutes. I also submitted the site to Yahoo and MSN, and found a free submission site that submitted to several smaller search engines.

Step 5 – Fine Tuning

I found an article written by Howard Kaplan, “10 Things No One Ever Told Me About Getting My Web Site Listed” helpful for some fine tuning of the site. Tips like making sure the page names and title tags match, making sure that keywords match meta tags and so on, probably helped. I have to admit I have been a little sloppy in the past and this time, I made sure the site did not contain any errors.

I kept checking with Google, MSN and Yahoo, and after a couple of days, the web site had a decent ranking on some related search strings with MSN. In three weeks, the web site had a third place ranking when the search string, christmas golf gift was used. Of course, I may have to wait a bit, since it is the middle of summer, to see if I get any significant traffic for the site. In the meantime, my little experiment seems to have worked, and I am getting a lot more traffic, in less time, than I ever have with a new web site in the past. Over this last weekend, I built another site to see if I can duplicate the experiment. I will let you know what happens.

1. Select Wrong Content Management Software (CMS)

Rapid prototyping manufacturer, Star Prototype China, uses a web-based CMS provided by her web hosting company to construct her web sites. Yes, it is a easy to use software but it does not allow users to create different Title and Meta tags for different web pages and has limited characters. Obviously, it is no good for optimizing websites. In ideal case, every web page must has specific Title and Meta tags.

2. Use Javascript menu

Another rapid prototyping company, Rapman, uses Javascript to construct their navigation menu. However, many search engines do not "read" hyperlinks in Javascript. Therefore, Yahoo and Google only index their homepage. To solve the problem, you must use HTML hyperlinks so that search engines can follow and index them.

3. Employ Wrong SEO Company

A DC motor manufacturer, employed a black hat SEO company and caused her website banned by Google. The SEO company put 20 hidden links in tecoelectric's website and this 20 hidden links were all clients of the SEO company and had no relationship with tecoelectric Motor. Tecoelectric Motor was told that this action could improve search engine rankings. Obviously, it is a cheat.

At last, Tecoelectric Motor required to remove those links and explained the whole story to Google to get their site unbanned.

4. Optimize Homepage Only

Many webmasters spend lots of time to optimize their website, but for their homepage only. You should also spend time to optimize the inner pages as well. It increases the likelihood of getting search engine traffic. In some occassion, it can give you a suprise. In one of our sites, an optimized inner page get more search engine traffic than the homepage.

5. Neglect interlink Structure

Webmasters neglect the fact that a well interlinking strcuture can enhance search engine rankings for all important web pages. First, your homepage must have hyperlink pointing to all important web pages, for example, through a navigation menu. Ideally, this nagivation menu should be added to all inner pages. In this way, link popularity can be distributed more efficiently to your web pages.

6. Create Dynamic Content with ?

For the ease of management, programmers prefer generates web pages dynamically. Dynamically-generated content can create session IDs and URLs that contain a "?" character with different parameters. To make sure search engines can index your web pages, your programmers must make sure that they use only 1-2 parameters and not forcing search engine spiders to begin a new session each time they visit your site.

7. Over Optimize during Aging Delay

Webmasters want traffic from Google and actually they want to get free Google traffic from day 1. But with Google's aging delay in place for new sites, you may only see results after 6-12 months. In this period, new site webmasters tend to think that the result is due to insufficent optimization. They attempt to increase keyword density further, stuff keyword in Title and Meta tags. Unluckily, these kind of techniques are unwelcomed by search engines and could cause your site get banned.

Patience is more important, and during the aging delay period, webmasters should focus on building useful content instead of over optimizing your website.

What Is De-Optimization?

De-Optimization is the reduction of those tell-tale signs of SEO that once-upon-a-time worked very well and only recently have come to be viewed as blatant attempts at, well, ranking highly. To properly de-optimize a website the following areas need to be addressed:

Keyword density
Backlink anchor text
The use of special text
Site relevancy

With these areas addressed properly a site stands a much higher chance of ranking for the phrases being targeted and perhaps more importantly, holding those rankings over time.

Keyword Density

For those not aware of the concept of keyword density it is the overall percentage of your page content that is made up of the targeted keywords. A simple example would be a 200 word page on which you are targeting a single keyword such as "google". If you use the word "google" 20 times on the page you would have a keyword density of 10% (keywords / words * 100 = keyword density).

First, let's note that a 10% keyword density is WAY too high to begin with. I can't specifically give an optimal keyword density in an article as there's a good chance it will be read months from now when the densities are different. The ideal way to calculate optimal densities is to figure out what the densities of the current top 10 are and target appropriately. But how do you de-optimize your keyword densities?

Let's say you've found that in your industry the optimal keyword density is 3.5% on Google but you don't necessarily want to target the high end of the spectrum. Using variations of the keyword is the easiest and most effective route to go. Rather than using the word "google" 7 times in that 200 words it will be more effective to use the word "google" four times, "googled" a couple times and perhaps, "googling" once. Plural, past tense, etc. are used by the major search engines as similar but not identical keywords. Thus, you will get much of the benefit of using them in your keyword densities without running the same risk of hitting densities that are too high. As an added bonus, you may just rank for these other keywords as well.

Backlink Anchor Text

The same principle applies to backlink anchor text as applies to keyword densities. Having 10,000 links to your site all with the same keyword phrase in them is going to look suspicious to say the least. Altering your text is obviously useful to help you attain rankings for multiple phrases but when you have only a couple of key phrases it helps to use plurals or otherwise altered forms of your main keywords. For example, in a link to the Beanstalk site we may use "seo services" much of the time but if all our links appeared this way it would be far less effective and thus, we also use anchor text like "seo service", "search engine positioning services", "seo firm", etc. to insure that we don't have too many identical backlinks but at the same time promoting our core phrases throughout.

As with keyword density, done correctly there's the added perk of ranking well for a variety of phrases.

The Use Of Special Text

As discussed back in the article on Content Optimization (http://www.beanstalk-inc.com/articles/search-engine-positioning/optimization.htm), special text (as we are using it here) is any text that is set out as unique from the majority of text on your page using such things as bold, italics, anchor text, colors, etc. The use of this type of text implies to the search engines that the text in this format is more important than the standard text on your page and also that you want this text to stand out from the rest (i.e. you want to insure your visitors see it).

For this reason special text is highly powerful from and SEO-perspective (and for all the right reasons as it's highly effective from a human visitor perspective). Based on the article noted above we have noticed people bolding every instance of their targeted phrase on their site. This might have worked back when the engines were first calculating this in as a factor however as with any trick that's used, it quickly got detected and filtered. The key here is to use these formats when appropriate. It should be noted that if you are targeting a phrase like "google" there will be spots in your text where you will naturally want to bold the text to draw the visitor's eye to the phrase they have searched. For example, you would likely use special text in a sentence at the top of your page that reads, "Google: The Way The World Searches." Whereas if further down your page you had a sentence the read, "Then one day I was sitting at my computer and Googled ..." you would be much less likely to need to use any formatting outside the usual used for your general content.

As a rule of thumb, try to never exceed 30 - 40% of your keywords formatted outside of your general content style.

Site Relevancy

This is the one area where de-optimization does not apply and can be viewed as the balancing factor. While you are working to de-optimize your individual web pages you will want to simultaneously build the overall relevancy of your site to your targeted phrases. Insuring that there is a solid use of your main keywords across as many of your pages as possible while keeping the visitor experience enjoyable and informative will create a stronger overall site and further increase your ability to rank that site for multiple related phrases as well as your primary phrase.

Conclusion

De-optimization is not so much the reduction of the ranking factors insomuch as it is a return to the original intent of a website which is to cater to the visitor. As the end goal of the search engines is to provide the best possible set of search results for a specific query it logically follows that websites should strive to attain an excellent visitor experience in order to attain and maintain high rankings. The search engines themselves are getting much better at determining characteristics of a website that will provide a solid visitor experience and this ability is increasing every day (or at least, every update).

Insuring that your content reads well, is organized properly with indicators in place to tell the engines (and the visitors) where the important content is and with easy navigation will help the engines know your site is built for the visitor and highly relevant to the search query. And what more do you want the engines to know than that?
