Cazhmere Catz

Breeders of Himalayans and Persians

About Us

WE ARE A CLOSED CATTERY - NO STUD SERVICE.

Cazhmere Catz located in Ship Harbour, Nova Scotia...these are not typical kittens and we are not a typical cattery. We have only three females, so there are no cages and no overcrowding and we don’t offer outside stud service. Our females are bred only twice a year and our cats are all vetted regularly and fed veterinarian quality Medi-cal brand pet food exculsively. Kittens are raised underfoot in our home and socialized from birth to ensure you will have a loving lap warmer for you to enjoy for years to come. They are available from 10-12 weeks, of age - age dependant on whether we feel they are ready to leave their mom - vaccinated and dewormed with vet records; all CFA registered kittens will be altered before leaving us. This is done safely at an early age. We also include a free trial period of Petplan Health Insurance for the kittens we sell. We have letters of reference from previous happy kitten buyers.

What one of our kitten buyers had to say..... Hi Tracy, Gizmo is awesome! He is such a good cat and I'm starting to think he is turning into a dog (he goes for walks, growls at other dogs haha, and loves to get a bath!). His personality is incredible, and he lets us do anything to him (rub his belly, picking him up, etc). I couldn't have asked for a better kitten..besides, he's too cute, how couldn't I love him to death!! We have taken many trips home to Cape Breton together and everyone can't get over how good he is, and how he doesn't really act like a cat, but more like a dog :)  Thanks for checking up on him..I'll send some pictures once I scan them to my computer.
Have a great day,
Vangi and Gizmo

HIMALAYAN OR PERSIAN?

Many people are surprised to learn that Persians and Himalayans are the same breed.  Himalayans were developed by breeding Persians to Siamese to combine the Siamese point coloring with Persian type. After many years of cross breeding they were approved as accepted color variations of Persians. All must have deep vivid blue eyes as eyes other than blue are a disqualification. Color is restricted to the facial mask and extremities with the body of various shades of white to fawn. When a Persian is said to be CPC, it means they are a color point carrier, capable of producing the Himalayan coloring in their kittens if bred to another CPC Persian or a Himalayan. Either way, the offspring is a purebred.

CHOCOLATE & LILAC PERSIANS

Please see Chocolates and Lilacs for more photos. We are breeding the rare and beautiful Chocoalate and Lilac Persians, in both solid and pointed (Himalayan). The solid Chocolate Persians are the color of milk chocolate...or a chocolate lab...or chocolate milk, well you get the idea. Lilacs are a very pale dove grey that looks mauve in certain lighting, both colors have copper eyes.

You can see above the difference between the coloring of a Blue (top) and a Lilac.

Both our Lilac Persian - Taz, and our Chocolate Persian - Mocha are CPC. Their possible kitten colors will be solid chocolate, solid lilac, chocolate point and lilac point.

For the Himalayans, a Chocolate Point's body color is very white as compared with a seal or blue point and they have chocolate color points' and the Lilac Points are glacial white with very pale points, both have blue eyes.

True chocolates and lilacs, both solid and pointed have pink paw pads as adults (so don't be fooled by those selling blacks or blues as chocolates and lilacs), they are quite rare and as their genetics are very complicated, few breeders are willing to work with them.  I know of only one other breeder in the Martimes who has chocolate and lilac in their bloodlines and they breed strictly Himalayans.

BLUE EYE WHITE PERSIANS

We expect to have white Persians, some with blue eyes next summer. Our blue eye white female Angel will be ready to bred summer 2008 and we look forward to producing some gorgeous kittens. You can see Angel on our Queens page. All of Angel's kittens will be Persian, not Himalayan. She does not carry the CPC gene, she is a pure Persian.

All of our CFA registered kittens are sold already spayed or neutered, they will be altered at an early age, before leaving us. All of our kittens are 1st generation chocolate/lilac carriers. We sell breeders on a very limited basis and no breeders will be sold within the Maritime provinces. Shipping may be available at buyers expense - weather permitting - when kittens are 12 weeks old. We will not ship internationally.
