I have been breeding and exhibiting Cavies since 1993. Now in Devon, I was initially based in Sussex where I used to breed and show Lilac Selfs and Lilac Cresteds. Then in 1998 I relocated to Devon where my Stud is now based. The balance of my Stud has changed and now consists mainly of Brindle Abyssinians which, by selective breeding, I have created a consistently placed string of "Aby's". However I missed the lilacs and re-introduced a small Stud of them but they became overun by the Abys and now I have a stud of roan and brindle abys and nothing else. |

Abyssinians ....... are very attractive rosetted cavies with very bold curious natures. They are keen feeders standing on their hind legs at the front of their pens when I enter the shed looking for titbits, rustle a carrier bag and a great guinea pig chorus of squeaks sets up in anticipation of the fresh picked green food inside. They breed easily and are excellent mothers. They also are very hardy and live to a good old age. I started breeding Abys in 1997 a year prior to moving to Devon. They have been a challenging breed as they require the correct placement of rosettes, the rosettes need to be the right shape and have a tight closed centre and a good depth, the coat needs to be harsh and erect. I am now introducing red abyssinians and trying to produce a line as strong as my brindles and roans |
