The Cat Project

Who We Are

The Cat Project is a volunteer-based, no-kill, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization started by a local veterinarian in Michigan.  We work out of foster homes and provide a cage-less environment for all of our cats until they are adopted.  Your donations are tax deductible and will help cats locally.  All of our efforts are supported entirely by voluntary contributions and adoption fees.  We do not receive any government funds.

We are dedicated to reducing the overpopulation of cats in Mid-Michigan and offer a low-cost spay/neuter program.  We have spayed and neutered cats from Eaton, Genesee, Ingham, Jackson, Shiawassee, and Washtenaw counties.  All adopted cats are spayed or neutered.

We work to educate the community about our feline friends and how to care for them.  Every cat has its own personality.  We seek permanent homes for cats and kittens where there is a connection and a bond between human and feline.  We strive to keep pets in their new home for the pet's lifetime.  If your pet is having issues, feel free to ask us for help.  We may be able to provide you with information, advice or assistance to help you get through the situation.

Our Declawing Policy

The Cat Project does not adopt to homes that plan to declaw.

Please feel free to talk to us about declawing and the humane options available. We would be happy to help.  You can find more information on this topic by clicking the "Cat Care Info" link at the left.

We do get some cats that come into our rescue who have already been declawed, please look at them if you are in need of a declawed cat.

Currently available front declawed: Freddie.
Currently available all declawed: Sunshine and Magic.
