The Life & Times of a Catholic Coug

The short(er) version

I was born in Oregon and moved to George, Washington just before I turned three.  Yes, there is a town named George in the great State of Washington.  Even funnier, it was founded by a man named Charlie Brown.  Truth is stranger than fiction.

I spent my youth going to school and working on the family farm.  Fast forward about 13 years...

When I was sixteen, I went to Bosnia.  That was when the war was going on.  Talk about an eye opener.  I went to a little town called Medjugorje, where the Virgin Mary has reportedly been appearing for about 25 years.  It was an awesome, peaceful experience which continues to affect my life.

After high school I was a Rotary exchange student in Switzerland for a year.  If you are going to be an exchange student, Rotary is the program to do it with.  I learned some much matured a lot in that year.  I'm also now fluent in German and have friends all over the world!

When I returned from Switzerland I went to Washington State University where I majored in German.  I spent most of my time at WSU at St. Tommy's - the Catholic Newman Center.  I did everything there was to do at the church and made some incredible friends.

A few months after graduation I entered the Americorps and was off to Glasgow, Montana.  I volunteered there for a year as a child advocate at the Women's Resource Center.  I spent my year working with youth and especially going to schools to educate them about dating and sexual violence.  I also worked with adult women and men as well.

After that year, I came back to Central Washington where I currently live.  I am the Victim/Witness Coordinator at the local prosecuting attorney's office.  I am also on the board of the Washington Coalition of Crime Victim Advocates.

Well, that's me in a nutshell so far!
