14th Century Money Changer's Pouch

Price: $40 in elk or kidskin

Based on a Dutch find, with an uncertain date of 1304 to 1318.

This pouch is made from 2/3 ounce kidskin, and 4/5 ounce veg tan. This pouch has been hand sewn using waxed linen thread. The veg tan pieces are oiled and have a leather conditioner rubbed in. The goat skin has the conditioner rubbed in on the grain side.

Also available in elk.

Capacity: The main pouch will hold a wallet, cell phone, and car keys. Small pouches will hold small items like lip balm, coins, matches, etc.

14th Century Pouch

Price: Deerskin- $35, Elk- $40

This pouch is based on a pouch from the estate of Hermann von Gouch (late 14th century). I believe it is currently in the Koln Stadtmuseum, Cologne.

This pouch is available in deerskin or elk. Hand sewn with waxed linen thread. Drawstring cords are 100% linen cord, and they have been braided and waxed with beeswax. This pouch is suspended from a belt by the main drawstring.

Dimensions, with pouch laying flat: 7.25" top to bottom, 6.5" across the top

The main pouch will hold a wallet, a cell phone, and car keys with a little bit of room to spare. The large pouchlet will hold a driver's liscense/credit card, and small items such as lip balm or a small bundle of keys. The small pouchlet would hold a few small replica coins.

15th Century Pouch

Price: $35

This pouch was modeled after a pouch found in the book English Longbowman 1330-1515. Made from elk leather. Hand sewn using waxed linen thread. Belt loop, drawstring, and drawstring cincher are made from vegetable tanned leather.

Approximate sizing:  7"  wide by 7.5" tall,  Belt loop:  3" tall

15th to 16th century pouch

Price: $40

Based on the Amsterdam pouch described in the book Purses in Pieces, by Olaf Goubitz (pg.41). This type of pouch was used in the 15th and 16th centuries. The image this one was based off of did not have a flap, but the book mentions that flaps were sometimes present on this type of pouch. My version includes a flap, but can be made without if you prefer.

This pouch is made of elk skin and vegetable tanned leather. Hand sewn using waxed linen thread. The drawstring is 100% linen cord, which has been braided and waxed with beeswax.

Dimensions and capacity: The back panel masures 7.5" from top to bottom, not including the belt loop. The belt loop will accomodate up to a 2" belt. This pouch will hold a wallet, cell phone, and a bundle of keys with a bit of room to spare.
