James Brooks
I qualified as a vet from the Royal Veterinary College in 1995 and have worked in both large and small animal practice. I have a strong interest in surgery particularly orthopaedics and spent the last 4 years working at AVC Referrals in Maidenhead.
My spare time is usually spent entertaining my young twins and when they get a look in my 2 cats Kiwi and Garp.

Katie Mountford
I graduated from the University of Bristol vet school in 2006. I am originally from the other side of the Pennines in Macclesfield but I took my first job in Barnsley and have stayed in Yorkshire ever since. I started off in mixed practice and since then have worked in small animal practice in Sheffield followed by a short stint locuming before starting at Castle View in August 2008. My clinical interests include diagnostic imaging, especially ultrasound, soft tissue surgery and medical cases.
In my spare time I enjoy walking with my 2 dogs Daisy and Monster (he was named that before I got him but the name is very apt!). Daisy is ridgeless Rhodesian Ridgeback who was found dumped in a football field and Monster is a crossbreed from the RSPCA in Bristol. I also have a cat called George who isn’t overly impressed by living with 2 playful dogs but occasionally likes a cuddle.

Katie Goacher
I’m Katie, the most recently qualified of the three vets. I graduated in June 2008 after five years studying at The University of Glasgow, which I thoroughly enjoyed, although very hard work!
During my time at Vet School I spent the first four years planning on going into mixed practice when I graduated. I worked on many farms in Cumbria, where I grew up just south of the Lake District and also one in Victoria, Australia where I spent 8 weeks working on a dairy farm, calving cows, and loved every minute of it. After starting final year rotations in the small animal hospital at university, I decided to concentrate on small animals and develop my skills in medicine and surgery, as these are the areas that really interest me. I took a couple of months off after finals to rest and recuperate and then my job hunt brought me to West Yorkshire where I began working here, at Castle View Vets.
I am enjoying living and working in the area, the job is challenging but rewarding and I’ve gained much valuable experience since starting work. I come into work each day never knowing what to expect.
