Our purpose built premises consist of a large
reception waiting area where our receptionists will
greet you and deal with any queries you may have. We
stock a range of treats, toys and collars for all
your pets and we also stock a range of Hills® foods
which our nurses are happy to advise you on.
On the way to the consult room the vet may ask to
weigh your pet on the walk-on digital scales or we
may use small scales to weigh puppies, kittens and
small animals.
We have 4 spacious consult rooms, one of which is
designated to nurse clinics. All the vets consulting
rooms are equipped with opthalmoscopes and otoscopes
to allow us to make detailed examinations of eyes
and ears. A radiographic viewing box in each room
allows us to show you any x-rays we have taken of
your pet.
Our well-equipped laboratory consisting of a
haematology, biochemistry and electrolyte analyser
ensures that if your pet requires blood tests we can
process the majority of them ‘in-house’. This means
we can usually obtain the results within the hour to
enable us to provide the most appropriate treatment
for your pet. Occasionally we will send samples to
external laboratories for analysis, this is the case
for certain blood samples, hormone assays and for
testing for bugs (bacteriology) and grubs (parasitology).
If your pet requires further diagnostic tests we may
use our xray machine which is in our designated
diagnostics room. This room also houses our
ultrasound machine which is particularly useful for
looking at the heart and organs in the abdomen for
signs of disease as well as checking if your dog is
pregnant. We also have an ECG machine that transmits
its signal to a cardiovascular specialist, allowing
us to diagnose and therefore treat most cardiac
disorders
When your pet comes to stay with us he or she will
be in our comfortable kennel room. We have a variety
of kennels suitable for the smallest hamster to the
largest Great Dane. Our kennel room is centrally
heated and fitted with air-conditioning to allow us
to maintain a comfortable environment for your pet.
We have an isolation kennel to allow us to keep any
pets that have an infectious disease
separate from the other animals. Our exercise yard
adjoining the kennel room allows us to give your pet
a bit of fresh air and toileting opportunities if
appropriate. For any pets requiring a drip
(intravenous fluid therapy) we have an infusion pump
which allows us deliver exactly the right amount of
fluid to your pet. We also have heat pads and plenty
of comfy blankets along with lots of TLC for all our
patients!
Any pets staying with us are looked after by our
dedicated inpatient nurse and during the week we
provide 24 hour nursing care with a vet on stand-by
to allow most cases to be cared for through to
recovery. At weekends inpatients are transferred to
Leeds Emergency Vets to allow them to continue to
receive dedicated care necessary to make a full
recovery.
For any pets which require surgery we have a fully
equipped operating suite with an adjoining prep room
which enables us to operate to the highest standards
of sterility. The prep room also houses our dental
suite consisting of an air driven dental machine to
allow us to scale and polish teeth and perform any
extractions necessary. Our veterinary surgeons scrub
for surgery in the prep room whilst your pet is
being anaesthetised and prepared for surgery before
being transferred into our operating room for the
operation itself.
Any pet that has an anaesthetic is monitored by a
dedicated nurse throughout the procedure. We have a
variety of anaesthetic equipment including a
laryngoscope, pulse oximeter and oesophageal
stethoscope which, along with an experienced nurse,
ensures that your pet is in the safest hands. We use
safe anaesthetics similar to one used in human
medicine to allow you pet to make a quicker recovery
from his or her surgery.
