Welcome to Carter Large Breeds. We are a small family owned breeder located in Agra, Oklahoma. We are right about 45 minutes from Oklahoma City. We are a family of 6 me my husband and our four kids. We have 2 daughters and 2 sons.
This all started when I surprised my husband with our first Boxer (Trillie). Of course we all fell in love with her. It was soon after when we decided to add to our fun hobby a few more dogs and then more breeds. That is when we added the Mastiffs, Great Danes. We did not know how much fun this hobby would be until we got our first puppy. We here at Carter Large Breeds take pride in raising TOP QUALITY Boxers, English Mastiffs, Great Danes. Most of our dogs are AKC registered unless otherwise noted. Our dogs are raised in a wonderful and loving environment with lots of Tender Love and Care!! All of these dogs are our pets we love them like our children. So feel free to look around.
Just a little about each of our breeds
Mastiffs are often called Gentle Giants. This is of course because they are so big but yet, a very laid back dog. The Mastiff is confident, dignified, and very gentle-natured. Mastiffs rarely bark, but they are not fond of strangers and will defend their territory and family when necessary, making excellent guard dogs. The Mastiff tends to drool. Mastiffs generally grow from 27 in up to a possible 36 in. A mastiffs weight can vary anywhere from 110 lbs. up to 343 lbs. as in the case of Zorba the world's largest dog. Most mastiffs only weigh between 120 -230 lbs. with females falling on the smaller side of both height and weight.
Great Danes The Great Dane is one of the most elegant and distinguished of the giant breeds. Great Danes are affectionate, calm, loyal, and intelligent. They do not bark much, but make great watchdogs. The Great Dane’s ‘gentle giant’ nickname is well earned by its loving, quiet persona. Some Great Danes may drool. The male shall not be less than 30 inches at the shoulders, but it is preferable that he be 32 inches or more, providing he is well proportioned to his height. The female shall not be less than 28 inches at the shoulders, but it is preferable that she be 30 inches or more, providing she is well proportioned to her height. It is common for males to stand about 35 inches at the shoulder, and to weigh about 150 pounds. Females are commonly about 32 inches tall, and weigh about 120 pounds. Puppy buyers should remember that "bigger", is not necessarily "better".
Boxers The Boxer is happy, friendly, intelligent, attentive, and loyal. Boxers develop strong, close bonds with family. They have lots of energy and a serious demeanor, though they can be clownish and playful as well. They like to grab and carry around just about anything they can in their mouths. Boxers tend to get rowdy when the food bowl is empty. They make excellent guardians and companions. The Boxer is a amazing breed but not for everyone. Boxers are very active so they need a good amount of physical exercise. Boxers generally grow from 21 in to 25 in, in height. Boxers weigh generally between 55 lbs to 70 lbs.
