Farewell to a True Blue
On Thursday 28th February 2008, Members of this small close-knit Club learned the news that many had been dreading for several months, our Vice-Chairman and Provost Marshal, Bobby Linton, had lost his fight against illness.
A paragraph or two on this site, or any other for that matter, would never be able to accurately portray the man that was Bobby Linton, but one word has been used constantly in describing him since his passing, GENTLEMAN.
Bobby had an uncanny knack of staying unruffled in a crisis, and when others were losing the plot, the wee Man was always on hand to give sound advice and bring a calming influence to matters. He will be forever missed by The Red Hand and Thistle RSC. Members can take great pride that whilst the Wee Man was being ravaged by illness and pain, he still attended our trips and functions, on visits to hospital he constantly asked for updates on our Clubs affairs. Nobby was a Thistleman to the very end, his courage and selfless acts should forever be used by Members of this Club as an inspiration!
