Re-Elect Carolyn Barclift

CARING

RESPECTED

EXPERIENCED

Carolyn is a native of Olympia.  She comes from a family of educators and public servants with a rich heritage of community service.  She has committed her life to the service of others.

As a mother of three children who attended Olympia schools, she became active in their schools and their education.  Among other contributions, she was a member of Garfield's Vision Committee.  She was first elected to the Olympia School Board in 1999.

As a police officer, she sees first hand the successes and needs of our children, their families and our community.  Carolyn is well respected and has the experience we need to reach common sense and informed solutions to the educational challenges we face here in Olympia.

Carolyn will continue to focus on:

  • Fiscal responsibility
  • Student achievement and education reform
  • Community and stakeholder involvement

Carolyn is committed to helping all students reach their potential and prepare for their future.  Carolyn works respectfully and fairly with staff, students, parents and the community.  She works to create an atmosphere where all can share their opinion and feel valued in doing so.

During Carolyn's tenure on the board we have seen academic achievement rising for all students.  Her encouragement of collaboration among dedicated teachers and staff across disciplines and grade levels has enhanced student achievement.  Increasing numbers of students are taking more rigorous academic subjects and the results are apparent.  Each graduating class outperforms the preceding class.

Carolyn believes we have a great school district and is dedicated to making it even better.
