Words to live by...

Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside; champagne in one hand, chocolate in the other, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming.... "WOW--What a ride!"

September 10, 2003

This was the date that would change my life forever.

It was Wednesday around noon when I left my office and took the short drive to the shopping center where Weight Watchers is located.  I knew it had worked for friends and co-workers in the past, but would it really work for me?

I weighed in at a whopping 249lbs.  How did this happen, I thought....just 5 years ago I was wearing size 12 clothing and now, I am squeezing into size 20's.  Believe it or not, it was only through pictures that I was able to see the "fat me".  When I looked in the mirror, I saw 'thin' Stephenie, not the 249 lb. stranger...but scales don't lie.

I decided that I wanted and needed to lose weight for several reasons.  The obvious reason is my health.  I want to have children one day and be able to chase after them, play with them and live a fun-filled, full life. I also want to spend the next 60 years with the love of my life.  I want to look how I used to look not so long ago, this includes wearing "normal" size clothes, shopping in normal stores, etc...the list goes on.

I decided to create this page because I have found a wealth of inspiration, information and motivation in the countless pages of other WW members that I have visited since joining.

I also want to thank the Weight Watchers Message board posters-- you guys are awesome and I couldn't do this without you!!  Especially the men and women on the 100+ board.

***SPECIAL THANKS to my college roommate, Jenn, for inspiring me to join WW in the first place- I would not have done it without your success and encouragement. You were my inspiration and motivation. ***
