Caring for your VFT

VFTs are fussy, sometimes things that will work for one person may not work for another, so to grow them properly we must think about their natural habitat. They grow in always wet boggy areas with much sun and warmth so we must try to recreate the conditions they love.

Ok you have just got your plant what do you do first? find a place for it to live. If you're keeping it indoors this must be a sunny place, the sunniest and warmest place you can find, like a conservatory or  a very sunny window  ledge, it must also be warm. Once you have found a suitable place you must provide another reqirement - water.VFTs (or any carnivorous plant for that matter) must never dry out. You should water them every 4-6 days with rainwater, although mine do fine on tap water. It may also help to put them in a dish of water (from the same source you get its other water from) an inch full underneath the pot. This will help to keep the soil wet and help provide condensation. You may also you have to feed it if  you would like a good plant (see feeding page).
