Please send in $14.00 for the vocabulary workbook.

Please send cash or checks made payable to Carnage Middle School.

Please send the money in by next Friday, Sept. 5.  Thank you.

Students were given a vocabulary list for the book.  The list is divided in two---Ch. 1-3 and Ch. 4-6.  There will be a matching test on both lists. They were also given a project choices list.  The students are to choose one project, and I will give them a rubric on Wednesday.

Students were to have read Ch. 1 of The Pearl in the brown lit. book.  It is on p.695-702. Students are to keep both lit. books at home.  I have enough for a class set.

We started a unit on Voices of North Carolina.  We are going to learn about dialects and other things about the way North Carolina citizens speak.

The Pearl project are due. The Pearl book test is today.

There is an extra credit opportunity this weekend.  Saturday between 11:00am and 4:00pm at the History Museum (across from the Capitol Building in downtown Raleigh) there will be a NC Colonial Celebration.  I read about it in Wed. News and Observer.  It sounds like fun.  I plan to attend.

We are going to the media center to get a biography of an American that is at least 160 pages.  The students are welcome to go to the public lilbrary or get a biography from home.  Students will pretend they are that person and write a personal narrative or a memoir after they read the biography.

All of those that missed The Pearl test on Monday need to make it up today.

Vocabulary Books have come in and students are to do Lesson 1 in the workbook, make 2-column notes for the words and definitions, and 2 column notes for the prefixes ab-through contra-
