Using Photoshop,
open up all of the body panel textures of the car you want to change
the color of, including the frame texture if it exists. With each one,
Now you have a bunch of gray body panels. For each
one, click Layer... New Fill Layer... Create New Fill Layer. Select 50%
opacity, color gray, and then click ok. Select which color you want it
to be, and make sure you make it maximum brightness, as the color will
otherwise look very pale. For example, setting it to full 255 blue with
give you a medium blue, not a bright one. Setting it to a soft blue
will not change the color much.
Copy and paste the fill layer to each and every
texture. Then save them and choose "Discard Layers and Save A
Copy." Make sure you save over the original.
If you would like a white or black skin, desaturate
the textures then click Image... Adjustments... Brightness/Contrast and
set brightness to -100 for black and +100 for white. Anything in
between will get you different shades of gray. Fiddling with contrast
can help you achieve white or black in some cases, but beware, too much
contrast makes it look wierd and too little makes it invisible.
Experiment with these techniques and find
a something you like. Try some gradients and graphics, too if you
want. This can be used for other solid color parts of the car as
well, like the engine.
And always remember to delete the PIX16 folder!!!
