Carlos Bernard Papierski was born in Evanston, Illinois, USA, October 12, 1962. Coincidentally, he was born in the same hospital as his "24" wife, Reiko Aylesworth.
The Chicago native received his Master of Fine Arts degree from the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco. He went on to appear in many ACT stage productions such as "Good" with William Hurt, "As You Like It," "Hamlet," "The Diary of Anne Frank" and "The Cherry Orchard." Bernard also performed with Frank Langella in "Scenes From an Execution" at Los Angeles' Mark Taper Forum.
On television, Bernard guest starred on Walker, Texas Ranger, The Young & the Restless, Moloney, and Silk Stalkings. His feature film credits include Vegas: C.O.D., The Killing Jar, and The Colonel's Last Flight.
However it wasn't until he was cast as the enigmatic Tony Almeida in the critically acclaimed television series "24" that he was recognised as a star in the eyes of the world-wide public. Since the series first aired in the U.S., Bernard's fan base has grown substantially, with groups and fan sites forming on the internet. In 2003 he was named one of People's 50 Most Beautiful People. He is married to an actress and lives in Los Angeles.
