This Moot is 'open' and meets at the Three Mariners at Trimley on the last Tuesday of the month. The Moot Master is 'Firehat Ray'.
They have guest speakers and discuss a range of topics that arise from the speaker of the evening. On the nights they have no speaker its an informal drink and a chat night. This is accessible by bus from both Felixstowe and Ipswich. All are Welcome...

Fourteen Moot-goers gathered at the Three Mariners at Trimley to hear Cat & Susie give a talk about the medieval 'Witch Trials' in the Tendring District with reference to those held for trial at Colchester Castle and Chelmsford.
They told of how in those days superstitions which surrounded unexplained deaths and disasters in the commuity were blamed on any local woman who practised herb craft etc, often these women were unusual characters who stood out from the crowd. Official accusations of 'Witchcraft' followed and later Matthew Hopkins the self styled 'Witch Finder General' cashed in on the wave of paranoia which swept the country and indeed much of Europe too.
The 'Essex Witch Trials Memorial Group' are concentrating their efforts on securing a plaque to be positioned in Colchester Castle dungeons, bearing the correct information and reminding us all of those dark times; we wish them well.
