Welcome to the Rabbit portion of my farm. I raise rabbits for pet and for meat. My original group was made up of rex/lop crosses, however, I didn't like their growth at all for my goals. I recently acquired a trio of Jr. Silver Fox buns, and a trio of New Zealand Whites, and am pretty confident that I will be more pleased with them as my meat stock. They are all show quality, too, and I showed the Silver Foxes at my first show when I picked them up form their breeder - Candace Reaux at Ag Fox Rabbitry. I picked up the New Zealands later in the day so those were not entered in the show, but hope to take them to the next so I go to. I got them from Donna Carpenter at Willow Creek Rabbitry. I enjoyed my first show a LOT and am endlessly grateful for all the help these two breeders have given me.
My goals with rabbits is foremost, meat production. I personally want to start showing often, mainly because I understand that conformation is directly related to production. Since I don't know what 'good' rabbit conformation looks like, I find the evaluation of my buns very educational.
I do also still have a pair of my rex type buns. Not pedigreed and both rather nasty tempered - however, all babies from that cross are planned for meat and especially for their fur - of which I want to use to make a blanked and perhaps a pair of mittens. :)
