The stories behind Tom and Amar's Acoustic Songs

Alright, if your one of my friends, you probably know about the songs that Tom and I make up. But here's the story behind each of em. Boring, I know, but what else are you gonna do at 11:15 pm?

The Beginning/Erin's Leaving Song

Vocals: Tom

Lyrics: Amar

Our song adventures started out when Tom was over for one of the first times and he met Erin online off my MSN account. When Erin asked what we were doin, Tom said that I was playin guitar and he was typin. Erin thought we should try singing/playing guitar for fun. Didn't work too well at first, and we shook off the idea. But just for fun, I made some lyrics for Erin in our convo. Later that day, I managed to convince Tom to try and sing it on a crappy mic (which broke down after we recorded that song), and he did creating Erin's Leaving Song. TADA! Boring huh? Well ya still got (I dont remember how many) left to go!

The Random Song

Vocals: Amar

Lyrics: Made up on the spot

Well, a couple weeks after school ended, Tomleft for England, leaving me stranded without even an unwilling singer. So I tried to sing my own song. I couldn't come up with lyrics that I could sing cos I'm not a great singer, so I decided to make some up as I went along. Too bad that it wasn't actually that random. Anyways, this became The Random Song.

The Cheese Puffs Song

Vocals: Tom and Amar

Lyrics: Made up on the Spot

Well, one day when we were both bored, Erin sent me a sample from a robot voice sampler thingy. And it said "Cheese puffs are the only thing that can satisfy my hunger". I decided to use this for a song, hoping for a techno/rap parody, but that didn't work too well considering Tom can't rap(no offense man) and that I don't have a sampler. So we made it the wierdest song we could. after the first 2 takes went wrong, Tom started to get into it and actually did some of it WILLINGLY. We put the sample in the beginning, changed the pitch, added a scream to link the two parts, and started the song. It went from punk to I don't know what. Tom just went crazy, and for the first time on a song, he had fun with it and made it up. He did, as usual run out of ideas, so he handed the mic to me and I fake rapped over a bit. We decided he should have a vocal solo mid song, so he just went with it. Again running out of ideas, I helped him out with the "NGhaaaaaaa" and the song started up again. Right after that, he started telling me to play a guitar solo, and you can hear us whispering about it just barely on the track. An unprepared improv solo when you don't know what key you're in is not easy. Which is why the solo sucks. Anyways, there's another story behind the song.

The Dictionary Song

Vocals: Tom

Lyrics: The Oxford Pocket Dictionary

Started out as some messed up takes, with Tom reading definitions from the dictionary. After scrapping these, we decided to do some impressions of Nick (sorry dude), and Tom said he liked the dictionary, and that he was dedicating the song to the dictionary, we found a dictionary on my desk, and he basically read the entire sleeve. And we finished it off with the last definition in the dictionary. And yes, that IS pure panic in Tom's voice when he says "SHIT!" after hearing that he was reading the last defninition yet having no idea where the hell it was.

The Printer Song

Vocals: Tom

Lyrics: Tom

While printing the lyrics for our Adam's Song Acoustic cover, Tom just started singing "Print, Print, Print, Print", and I came up with a guitar part after about a minute of trying. We recorded it a couple seconds before dinner And that's The Printer Song.

Poo-Pie Chicken

Vocals: Tom

Lyrics: Tom

Another of Tom's few creations. As you can guess, it started out with him saying "Bum, Bum, Bum, Bum" and then starting to say more and more random words then fake chinese/japanese/korean. A guitar part came, and it was recorded right after dinner.

Round and Round the Merry Go Round

Vocals: Tom

Lyrics: Made up on the spot

No, we weren't stoned. Or high. Or drunk. Tom just happens to like merry-go rounds, and we tried to make it sound like we were MJ's favorite sleepover choices. Ended up sounding stoned. The inspiration came during the song when we opened up a picture of a merry go round on google, which is why Tom came up with all the colors, and the "white horsie waaaay up in the sky", and all the animals.

Merry Had A Little Lamb

Vocals: Tom

Lyrics: Whoever made it up

After numerous requests from Anne to do Mary had a little lamb in opera, rap, punk, and classic version, we gave in and gave it a try. Yes, my guitar playing does suck. But hey, I never knew how to play mary had a little lamb on guitar, so I learned it by ear 10 secs before we recorded. The End.

Adam's Song

Vocals: Tom

Lyrics: Blink 182 (Hoppus/Delonge)

It's an awesome song. We suck. Perfect combo for a cover.

A Poem

Vocals: Tom

Lyrics: President's Choice

After almost finishing a box of President's Choice Decadent Chocolate Chip Cookies (mmmm cookies), we wanted to do another stoner-wannabe song (we don't actually wanna be stoners), so we got a ringy-jangly guitar line goin, and Tom read the ingredients off the box.

The Irish Jig

Vocals: Amar

Lyrics: Amar

Irish jigs are funny. This one isn't perfect form, or even mostly true, but it's about Julia, who is actually punk, and the height of a twig. heehee. This is a surprise for Julia. She gets back from England today, so I'ma show it to her when I talk to her.

A Lesbian - Coming soon

Vocals: Amar

Lyrics: Nora, Ashley, Amar

Ashley and Nora are really bugging me to do this song that started out as them joking around. Tom, plz come over and sing this. This will be the only song thats electric on the album ('cept maybe a metal juicy fruit cover) cos if it's not, Nora will kill me. Its about a lesbian, who is a lesbian. And another lesbian. Hopefully coming before school starts.

EDIT: (Sat, Aug 14) Tom won't learn it so I recorded it and (sadly) sang it. Hope you like. Pssst. It's a surprise for Nora so don't you fucken dare ruin it!
