The new season has finally started and I would like to draw the Chess Clubs attention to our two competitions. The Chase trophy and the Robert Ward Memorial Trophy. The Chase Trophy is a 6 board knockout tournament starting in September each year, with the final in April.  Each club may enter a team, and there is no grading limit. Rate of play: As stated for league play. Also the Robert Ward Memorial Trophy
is a tournament for individual players.  The first round is in September, with the final in April.  After the first (seeded) round, this becomes a knockout tournament - first round winners compete for the Trophy, while first round losers compete for the Plate. Rate of play: As stated for league play.

To my knoledge these two competitions have not been run for some time and if I can rally enough support I am willing to run them for this season. If anyone is interested in participating in these two events please contact me immediately by sending me an e-mail here
