Cannelton Police Department

During the process of compiling data for the 2005 annual report it was determined that the highest number of arrest performed by the Cannelton Police Department were in connection to arrest warrants being served. Several of these arrest warrants were for narcotic and violent offenses. In December of 2005, it was decided that the Cannelton Police Department must be prepared to effectively serve high risk arrest warrants and perform in other similar high-risk situations. We felt that this task could best be accomplished with a centralized group of highly disciplined, well-trained officers using special equipment and tactics. The High Risk Warrant Team was designed to deal with such situations in a judicious manner, presenting minimal hazards to the safety of residents, passersby, police officers and offenders.

In January of 2006, the Cannelton Police Department High Risk Warrant Team was created.
