JUNE 18, 19 & 20, 2008
To operate a camp for children, where they can receive wholesome recreation, moral, physical, mental, cultural and civil training based upon ethics, values and respect for law enforcement and the criminal justice system.
The Cannelton Police Department is offering young people an exciting, up-close look at law enforcement and the criminal justice system through its youth camp. This camp will help students gain respect for themselves and others through programs, which demonstrate the rewards of hard work and dedication.

CAMPERS HAD A GREAT TIME AT CAMP 2007! BELOW ARE A FEW PHOTOS TAKEN WHILE THE CAMPERS WERE ENGAGED IN ACTIVITIES.

Above is "A" squad marching to the Dining Hall. "A" squad's Drill Instructors were Lee Hall & Eric Dickenson.

The photo above, shows students paying close attention to guest instructor Derrick Lawalin and his K-9 partner Jago. Officer Lawalin, a police officer employed by the Tell City Police Department gave the students an awesome presentation on how K-9's work with officers in the field. This class was held in the outdoor Forbes Pavillion.

AIR EVAC Lifeteam flew by and gave the kids an upclose look at what they do for a living. They were equipped with a pilot, flight paramedic and flight nurse. A BIG thanks to the AIR EVAC team for flying by!!!

1. This program utilizes educational and recreational activities to create trust and understanding between police officers and youth. It is based on the conviction that young people - if they are reached early enough - can develop strong positive attitudes towards police officers in their journey through life toward the goal of maturity and good citizenship.
2. The Cannelton Police Department Police Youth Camp “Camp with a Cop” brings youth under the supervision and positive influence of law enforcement and expands their awareness about the role of a police officer and the reinforcement of the responsible values and attitudes instilled in young people by their parents. Such respect is beneficial to the youth, the police officer, the neighborhood and the community.
3. The Cannelton Police Department Police Youth Camp “Camp with a Cop” strives to connect our youth and law enforcement and the criminal justice system in a positive way with character building tools to deter juvenile crime and violence; as well as, create interest in possibly getting involved law enforcement later in life. The friendship and trust built through this structured camp will help teach our youth that they have a friend behind the badge. These bonds can last a lifetime.

FOR PARENTS
Opening Day
Opening Day is an exciting time for everyone!
Campers should eat breakfast prior to arrival.
Campers may arrive no earlier than 7:00am
and no later than 7:30am on the 21st of June.
PARENT(S)/GUARDIANS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR
TRANSPORTATION TO AND FROM THE CAMP.
Due to the VERY limited parking space and
to avoid any pressure placed on the kids
by Parent(s)/guardian(s) being present, we
ask Parent(s)/guardian(s) to leave after
signing in. We want to build their self-
confidence and self-reliance, and that is
something hard to achieve with Parent(s)/
guardian(s) present. Opening day pick up
will be no earlier than 4:30pm and
no later than 5:00pm.
Closing Day
Again campers should eat breakfast prior
to arrival. Campers may again arrive no
earlier than 7:00am and no later than 7:00am
on the 22nd of June. Again, PARENT(S)/
GUARDIANS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR
TRANSPORTATION TO AND FROM THE CAMP,
and due to the VERY limited parking space
and to avoid any pressure placed on the kids
by Parent(s)/guardian(s) being present,
we ask Parent(s)/guardian(s) to leave after
dropping campers off. Parent(s)/guardians plan
to arrive no earlier than 5:00pm, because you
are invited to attend the graduation and the
awards ceremony on closing day,
June 22nd, at 5:30pm.
Get ready to have a GREAT time!!!
