09 Camp Application

Thanks for your interest in Cannelton Police Department's "CAMP WITH A COP" 2009!  Below is an electronic interest application.  This will provide us with basic information needed to formulate an awesome camp experience for your child.  This is a co-ed camp for campers who are going into the 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th grades.  We intend to have 2 squads with one being for 6th & 7th graders and the second for 8th and 9th graders.  There will not be a residency requirement; in fact we had campers from as far as near Indianapolis last year!  We encourage you to fill out this simple form and submit it to us ASAP The planning process for 2009's camp began in August 2008.  If you choose not to send your child after filling out the application below, you can do so at anytime.  Once you click submit at the bottom, the information will be forwarded to our police department for our review.  We will keep all information confidential.  We will then email you with further information. 

The camp dates will be June 17, 18 & 19, 2009.  Campers will go home after the 1st day of camp and then return the second day.  Campers will then stay overnight the second night and then go home at the end of graduation on the 3rd day.

Last year's camp was an amazing success!  We had no idea how awesome it was going to be.  Thus, we will be conducting a 3 day, with 1 overnight camp.  The camp is being planned by, conducted by and most funds being raised by local Police Officers, Deputy Sheriffs, Conservation Officers, State Police Officers, etc.  All campers will be supervised at all times by Police Officers.  The camp will be held at the Victory Valley Church Camp and we will be utilizing their facilities.  They have 2 separate air condition dormatories with showers and bathroom facilities, a full dining hall with modern commerical kitchen equipment, an outdoor "Forbes Pavillion" for HANDS ON FUN, an air conditioned classroom, etc.

We have been planning an amazing schedule of activities and courses.  These classes are still in the planning phase, but here is a quick look at what we will be doing with your child(ren):

  •   K-9 Demonstation
  • Fire Department Demonstation
  • C.S.I. CRIME SCENE WITH REAL CRIME SCENE TECHS!! 
  • Alcohol and Narcotics Education & Awareness
  • Rock Climbing/Rapelling
  • SCUBA DIVING

just to name a few.  We have a few new surprises for returning campers from last year, including CSI type investigation of a crime scene, to name just one.  If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us at 812/547-2111 or

jeff_dickenson@hotmail.com  via email.  Due to costs associated in utilities, food, and operating expenses, there will be a fee for each camper.  The fee will pay for the said items and a camp t-shirt.  NO CAMPER WILL BE TURNED AWAY, if the cost is an issue for any family, we will provide assistance on an at "needed" basis.  The cost for this year's camp will be $25.00 per camper.  There is a sponsorship process for anyone wanting to attend who can't afford it.  It is expected that the camp will cost our department in excess of $5,000.00.  Police Officers are raising this money as we speak in the form of fund raising, grants and donations.
