Many moons ago (1979, to be exact!!), in a country called Guatemala, two sisters in their early teens watched with baited breath every afternoon at 3:00 pm on Canal 3 a Japanese anime series called Candy Candy.
We laughed, cried and suffered with the curly haired, pony tailed, freckled nosed girl called Candice White Andley. Luckily for us, Canal 3 repeated the series many times the following years. No matter how much we had seen the story and we knew how it ended, we still watched and laughed, cried and suffered with Candy!
The sisters are now all grown up with families of their own, but remember Candy Candy fondly. Thanks to the marvels of our internet-driven society she is somewhat available to us again. We are saddened to know however, that perhaps we can never have Candy Candy the series updated; a Candy Candy Sequel where the hopes of millions of fans (you know who you are!) are finally realized; have the old series available for purchase or buy new Candy Candy merchandise (save for collectors items on e-Bay...thank goodness for e-Bay!). We hope and pray that Mizuki-sama and Igarashi-sama can one day resolve their conflicts and collaborate again. Or at the very least, Mizuki-sama writes the final happy chapter of the interrupted love story of Candy and Terry that broke a lot of hearts (not to mention Candy and Terry's!) around the world.
Until then, we sisters join ranks with other fans around the world and form the CANDY CANDY NATION.
It is CANDY CANDY NATION'S goal to keep the spirit and of Candice White Andley, the beloved Candy Candy, alive and to share with new generations her timeless, touching story. Please feel free to explore our humble website, dedicated to her.
Sincerely,
Ana Luisa and Cristina
