Turning Blocks Into Bridges

                                       WELCOME!!!

Welcome to Austin's Camp Building Bridges

The first Camp of its kind!

Camp Building Bridges served as a "Pilot" Program for 2008 and with GREAT success of the program it has now been adopted by the Oklahoma/Arkansas Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association. The camp program was created through the inspiration of our now 14 year old son Austin, whom we have seen struggle with the emotions and pain that this disease inflicts upon its youth that have loved ones suffering with dementia.  No child should have to suffer through this kind of pain alone.

Camp Building Bridges held its first successful camp program at Camp Classen in Davis, Oklahoma, July 6th-12th. We had an AWESOME group of ten young teens that are in the caregiving role to a parent/grandparent with dementia. There was a one day session of educational classes held that provided them with alot of helpful information and insight to take home and hopefully make their role of caregiving just alittle easier.

It is through the great support of my local Chapter here in Southwest Missouri and the Oklahoma/Arkansas Chapter that Austin's Camp Building Bridges is able to continue on again this year and make this camp a Regional camp in years to come.  If you have any questions, feel free to contact either Chapter http://www.alz-swmo.org/ask for Angel King or Rebecca Argilagos or the Oklahoma/Arkansas Chapter  http://www.alz.org/alzokar/and ask for JoAnn Webster or contact me personally at tiger@centurytel.net
