                Ribblehead Viaduct

Sandwiched between the peaks of the mighty Ingleborough and the magnificent Whernside, Ribblehead Viaduct is an awe-inspiring 104 feet high, 24-arch viaduct, which conveys the Settle to Carlisle railway across the Ribble valley. Designed by the engineer, John Sydney Crossley, it was built  between 1870 and 1875 and runs for some 440 yards across the Pennine valley.
