The Red Dwarf Connection? - 26/2/06

Okay, to start us off, here's a drawing of our heroic Commander which I've drawn myself, to spur everyone on...

The Red Dwarf connection?: by Captain Helix (26/2/06)

There have been many comparisons recently between Hyperdrive and Red Dwarf, with some people describing Hyperdrive as 'the new Red Dwarf', while others (including Hyperdrive writers Kevin Cecil and Andy Riley) are adamant that it isn't 'the new Red Dwarf'.

Both are sitcoms, and both are set on a spaceship. Score draw there. But one is a brand new comedy series, with just one series under it's belt, whilst the other is BBC2's most successful show ever.

There are however, a handful of people who have worked on both shows. And Captain Helix, being the pedant that he is, has kindly listed them for you, for no better reason than to... well, for no good reason at all, really.

Here you are:

Asbury, Claire

Hyperdrive: Production Executive, ALL

(Red Dwarf: Production Team Member, The Last Day [series III])

Banks, Morwenna

Hyperdrive: Announcer, ALL

(Red Dwarf: The Lift Hostess, Stasis Leak [series II])

Bradshaw, Stephen

Hyperdrive: Art Director, ALL

(Red Dwarf: Assistant Designer, White Hole [series IV];

Production Designer [series V & VI])

Sale, Richard

Hyperdrive: Assistant Costume Designer, ALL

(Red Dwarf: Costume, Only The Good… [series VIII])

There. Now, wasn't that worth it?
