Demonstration over Course cuts and Job losses at Anglia Ruskin University

The Trades Council supported a demonstration outside Anglia Ruskin and wrote and petitioned our concerns over Higher Education Provision in the region. We made the point that many people attended ARU because they could not affords to go away to university or because they needed to be close to family.

AUT and NATFHE industrial action

AUT and NATFHE members in universities across the UK took part in a one day strike on the 7th of March and the dispute is now ongoing with action short of a srtike including a boycott of assesment and exams. For more information see the national AUT webpages.

• Skilled Aircraft Fitters at Marshall Aerospace have now won their dispute After 4 years of promises from Management they went on strike on 15th March. Amicus members accepted a much improved offer from the company.

• On November the fifth civil servants went on strike against job cuts. Watch out for more action in the coming months. The CTUC banner was on the picket lines in solidarity.
