Dear Parents,
As we look forward to the 2009-2010 school year, I am very excited about the opportunities we will provide for our athletes here at Calvary Christian School. The Calvary Christian School Lions compete in the Citrus West League, in the Southern Conference of the CIF, San Diego Section. In addition, I am very proud of the high quality men and women that we have coaching our athletes. Athletic competition allows our athletes the platform to learn the value of discipline, commitment, and working hard as a member of a team. As we move forward this year, please keep in mind the following goals that have been set up for our sports teams.
- Honoring The Lord and being a witness to Him in all that we do. We want to look back on our experience with other schools and know that The Lord was glorified and that we presented a testimony of our faith in Him.
- Our student athletes are students first and athletes second. Ensuring that an athlete is fulfilling their requirements in the classroom is a big priority of ours.
- We desire that our athletes have fun and enjoy the competition and fondly remember their time in our sports program.
- Winning is better than losing, so we compete to win. We expect our coaches and players to compete to the best of their ability. We are a CIF member and our teams will be run professionally, with discipline and order.
This year, the one-time sports fee for High School sports is $325. Please see the Student Athlete Agreement for a complete explanation of fees. These fees will be due in full at the beginning of your child’s first sports season. Payment arrangements must be made with the athletic administration at the beginning of the year. We are also asking every family to participate in the program by serving four hours at the snack bar, helping with a fundraiser, or working with the Booster’s Club. If you desire to pay an additional $50 instead of volunteering, we have that option available as well. The Booster’s club will be contacting you with options.
Calvary Christian School is a very special, close knit family. This program will flourish based on the involvement of our parents. Calvary sports can only be successful when we all work together towards a common goal. Please partner with us as we seek to provide a high quality sports program that would bring glory to our Lord! “And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.” Colossians 3:17
Feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns that you may have. Thank you and God Bless You!
Sincerely,
Alex Boshaw

Fundraising
This year each sport will be involved in a specific fundraising project. The primary goal of the fundraising is to provide funds to help manage the high costs of athletic participation. A successful fundraising project can also serve to help reduce your sports fees and even help with the purchase of “Spirit Pack” items. Your child’s coaches will notify you of any specific fundraising opportunities. In addition, Calvary Christian School is involved in the following fundraisers.
- Buick Invitational Tickets- Calvary Christian School receives Buick Invitational golf tournament tickets every year. The Buick Invitational is a PGA tour golf tournament that will take place at Torrey Pines Golf Course during the week of January 25th-31st, 2010.
There will be one change in this year’s program due to the rising costs to produce the SOS program. The SOS ticket prices
will be raised to $17 with the schools to retain $15 of each ticket sold. This change will allow the schools to generate the
same amount per ticket sold as the 2009 tournament and is still a terrific value with the SOS ticket being nearly one-half
off the regular ticket price at the gate. This is also being done in conjunction with raising the age at which kids can come
free to the Tournament, when accompanied by an adult with a ticket, from 12 years of age to 15. We believe that this change
will make the Tournament more affordable to families during these challenging economic times. For more information about the golf tournament, please log-on to buickinvitational.com
- The Calvary Golf Classic - You will earn credit towards your sports fees by signing up relatives or friends to play in our annual golf tournament in May. For every participant that you sign up, you will receive a $50 credit towards your fees. So, if you sign up a foursome, you will receive $200 credit. We are also seeking corporate sponsorship for our golf tournament. When you secure sponsorship for the tournament, you will receive 25% of that amount credited to you. Our charity golf tournament has a website. It you would like more information, please log-on to calvarygolfclassic.com
- Silent Auction- We will be holding a silent auction at the Calvary Golf Classic. You can contribute an item or service to the silent auction and receive 25% of the full auctioned price. For example, you may obtain a “2-night stay with golf” at a nice resort. If that item is auctioned off for $400, you will receive $100 credit towards your sports fees.
- Monetary Grants- Every year, thousands of dollars are awarded to schools and athletic programs from generous businesses and individuals. If you are able to secure donations to Calvary’s sports program, a portion of that donation can be credited towards your sports fees or spirit pack expenses. Please contact Alex Boshaw in the athletic office for more information about obtaining a monetary grant for Calvary’s athletic program. Calvary Christian School is a non-profit organization with a 501 (c) 3 tax exemption; tax ID # 33-0179300
