Well our first races have been run, and although neither horse got to the winner's circle, both gave solid efforts and gained some much needed capital for the Stables.
Double Scoop only faced one entry but what an entry it was. Redskyatdawn (the third rated 2yo in PF) showed up and let Scoop lead through the first half of the race. Then with a half mile to go in the mile Gr 1 Marcel Boussac, Red took control of the race and finished 9.5 lengths in front at the wire. To his credit our jockey sensed Scoop was in deep here and never pushed her and as a result Scoop came out of the race in GREAT shape.
Look for her in the 70k Doomben Slipper at 6.75f on the Doomben Turf course.
Alydear also was coming back to the races of a layoff. She ran a solid 4th in the Gr 2 Sedgwick at a mile on the turf. Aly who runs her best races at a little longer distance, will next be entered in the Gr3 Turnback the Alarm Hdcp. at 9f on the Aqueduct dirt track or the Athenia Hdcp at 8.5f on the Turf.
2008 Season-Weeks 41-42
Well what a way to start. We have brought our two horse stable to the land down under, and will debut our racers at the beautiful Morphettville Racecourse in Southern Australia.
We were able to find races for both our runners on this weeks card. So with all the hard work that the staff has put in getting our stable up and running, I decided on a working vacation to get this project off the ground.
Look for Double Scoop in the mile Grade 1 Prix Marcel Boussec over the turf course, where she will attempt to stretch out in distance as she faces her toughest test in her brief career.
Alydear will go in the Grade 2 Sedgewick Stakes at a mile on the turf course. "Aly" has been off since June and has been training beautifully up to this start.
