Join the Suncoast Region on a fun road trip to Sarasota! Mark your calendar for Sunday, January 25 for this exciting free annual event. Hosted by the Sunshine Region AACA at the Westfield Shoppingtown Sarasota Square Mall, this show is one NOT to be missed. The Devereaux-Kaiser Show always features many rare cars on display.
For those members especially from Pinellas/West Pasco, plan to meet at the Blackthorn Memorial at the north Skyway rest area at 8am. We will depart for Sarasota at 8:15 am. For those members from Hillsborough/East Pasco and other locations, we will be stopping at the Wendy?s/Waffle House at the Clark Road exit off of I-75 at approximately 8:45 am so you can join in our caravan to the event site.We must arrive together to park together, so joining in the caravan is very important. We should arrive at the mall by 9am.
Following the show, we will be dining at Big Al?s restaurant close to the mall? We plan to be at the restaurant at no later than 3 pm.

Note the new time and date.This is one of our area?s most unusual theme restaurants featuring a vintage Wurlizter theater pipe organ. Bill Vlasak is a native of Columbus, Ohio, where he began his music study at an early age. His father, John, was a well-known violinist in Columbus and started teaching Bill to play at the age of six on a half-sized violin. From this he switched his attention to the piano and began instruction. His talent quickly developed into a popular style of playing which launched his career as professional musician. As a secondary instrument, Bill began to study the organ. He found the perfect opportunities to put his abilities to work when the old theatre organs began to reappear in pizza oriented family restaurants a few years ago.
Bill is probably best know for his long engagement at the famous Paramount Music Palace in Indianapolis where he entertained families nightly from 1979 to 1995. During this period, Bill recorded seven albums, performed a series of programs in England and was awarded "Organist of the Year." Today he is one of our featured organists and is playing the Wurlitzer theatre organ he played at the Paramount!
October 18, 2008 Mercedes-Benz Lake Mirror Classic Auto Festival.
The Mercedes-Benz Lake Mirror Classic Auto Festival kicks off on Friday evening October 17th with the Budweiser Hot Rod Rendezvous, an outdoor concert in Lakeland?s Lake Mirror Park. The main car show and Concours d'Elegance is on Saturday, October 18th at Lake Mirror Park and throughout downtown Lakeland. The weekend concludes on Sunday morning with a Road Tour and Brunch.
The Lake Mirror Classic Concours d'Elegance will feature a select group of the highest quality automobiles which will be judged by a team of CCCA and AACA judges. The Concours Committee will pre-select 100 vehicles from the 500 plus applicants expected for the Lake Mirror Classic Auto Festival.
Presented at beautiful Lake Mirror Park and throughout downtown Lakeland, FL, the 9th annual event is expected to attract over 500 show vehicles and 35,000 spectators. The event is present FREE to the public.
This month we are going to continue to explore the history and art in Florida. For our June event we will revisit the John and Mable Ringling Museum of art in Sarasota. We previously visited the Ringling Museums in 2005 during the Flavour of Florida Tour.
Join the Suncoast Region on July 19, 2008 in Sarasota for a day of fine art and friendship! See the fabulous John and Mabel Ringling Museum of Art with your Suncoast Region friends! For those members from Pinellas County and the north, plan to meet at the north Skyway rest area at 11am. We will caravan to Sarasota at 11:15 to meet with other members at the Museum at noon. Plan to tour all four facilities in the afternoon and regroup in the lobby at 4. We will then caravan to Carrabba?s on University Parkway for our dinner at 5pm.
