All performances are mandatory. If a student misses a performance without prior notification in the form of a signed note from a parent, he/she may fail for the semester. Exceptions are hospitalizations, death in family, or acute illness. Please call as soon in advance if conflicts arise with this schedule. It is crucial to the success of the band that each and every member is present at performances.

CABRILLO MARCHING BAND 2008

Each band member in the Cabrillo Marching Band has a responsibility to pay all necessary fees and help with the collective fundraising efforts.

Activity fees: $100/student

The cost of transportation, equipment, entry fees, uniform maintenance, music, and additional staff are not paid for by the school district, so we must come up with the money. Many marching bands around the country charge anywhere from $500+ per season. Lompoc High School even charges more!!! This fee is also to make up ground for the students who don’t fundraise! Aaargghh!

Shoes: $20 The glide step marching shoe is part of the uniform. If a student finds an old pair in the box, he or she can use that pair and not have to buy new shoes. Many students use shoes from their previous years.

Please make all checks payable to CABRILLO HIGH SCHOOL. Due date: Aug 16, 2008.

Alternatives to paying fees through fundraising

Black and Gold Discount Card Sale

The instrumental music department sells a discount card featuring great deals from local businesses. Students sell the $7 cards and they can be presented at the businesses on the back for discounts. Students will be put on the debt list for lost or unreturned cards.

Students must sell a minimum of 10 cards. When a student sells 10 or more, $3 from each card is put in their personal account. Students can apply their personal account money towards fees or future trips.

Example:          Ami Van Nostrand sells 35 cards. 35 cards @ $3 = $105

Ami can use the $100 to pay her activity fee, and have $5 left over in her

                        personal account for future trips.

Students will also have the opportunity to pay fees through working in the school cafeteria. The band has reserved a couple weeks in which each student that works makes

$7 per shift. Interested students will have a chance to sign up for slots.

Students can pay for entire trips through effective fundraising!
