Since 1988, entering the 19th year, CAAAS's motto is directed towards 'Bridging the Gap' between Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal Peoples through the celebration & awareness of the on-going contribution and enrichment of the continuum of Aboriginal Arts to society and community at large. A volunteer-based non-profit society, CAAAS, produces a series of arts related events throughout the year as well as producing its' original charter events during the annual week of, and encompassing, June 21, Aboriginal Day in Canada. The Society was recommended by the Royal Commission on Aboriginal Peoples as a model society for cities to follow. Charter Events: Opening Ceremonies, Aboriginal Awareness Week, Calgary; AAW Calendar of Events for the week, Bannock Cook-Off ( teams of businesses, organ. corps.); an Evening at the Theatre; Aboriginal Art Exhibition, F'N ( First Nation) Haute Cafe: REEL film/video Screenings, Spoken Word, Readings, and other related events. Dedicated to the support and development of creating awareness of Aboriginal Arts - emerging, mid-career, professional - both traditional and contemporary. Let us know about your art.
