Hello, my name is Cammie Brown. I started this group with my friend, April Brown and now my daughter, Callie Hansen is going to help me with the group. The group has been on hiatus for several months due to the relocation of my friend and the acceleration of my symptoms. A few members have kept in touch and we are anxious to get the group going again. Right now the closest group is in Tulsa at St. Francis and we have found it very difficult to make it to their meetings and juggle kids and jobs. But we also have found it very helpful to be able to share information and support with others who have Lupus.
We hope this support group will be beneficial to not only Lupus patients, but also to their family and friends. We know from our own experiences that Lupus is a difficult disease to diagnose, treat and live with. We hope to bring new ideas and information to each other, while building a support system in our community for Lupus patients and their families.
Our first meeting was December 9, 2004 at Jane Phillips Medical Center, but some of us had troubles with parking and access to the meeting room. First United Methodist Church has graciously offered us the use of their library on the last Thursday of every month at 7:00pm. Our first meeting there will be Thursday, September 27, 2007. Everyone is invited.
