Important Information For Women

Welcome!

My name is Betty, and I am the daughter of a deceased implantee.

My mother had a radical mastectomy due to breast cancer in 1980.

In 1989 she required a hysterectomy and explant due to rupture.

Between 1989 and 2001 she was ill with various infections and other conditions.

In June of 2001 she began having severe back pain that was diagnosed as 'hairline fractures throughout the vertebra'.

On January 17th, 2002, she was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia.

March 7th, 2002, it was found that the 'hairline fractures' were actually the beginning of a ten inch long tumor on her spine.

My mother did not know, like many women, that breast implants could have serious ill effects.  Had she known, she would not have gotten one.

My mother joined the class action suit against Dow Corning.

There are so many women out there with similar tales as my mother, and worse.  They selflessly have put out web sites on the internet warning people, they have attended hearings and meetings and spoke about the personal trials they faced, they've distributed paperwork, they've rallied and fought to keep implants off the market and educate other women.

All because they know, like no one else, how implants can cause disfigurement, illness, and even death.

The FDA will rely on studies.  Other agencies will rely on collected data.

But these women rely on experience to educate and inform.

One only needs to read their stories to know that it's not worth the risk.

It is my sincerest hope, and the hope of the breast implanted ladies who you will find as contributors here, that you will read their stories, do research, and make an informed decision regarding your health.
