MARIAH'S NEW ALBUM PLANS
Speaking of superstar celebs, this week I was lucky enough to listen to some of Mariah's new joints for her next album and all I can say is if you thought her last album was the second coming, well, you ain't seen nuthin' yet! MC filled me in on all the fun she's been having in the Islands working on her new tracks with her mate Da Brat. Now she's in Europe all week starting off at Paris' Disneyland for a huge function, then it's to our favourite spot Capri to swim in the blue lagoon before finishing up in Rome. So I must run and pack a case or two to join her but I can't say where 'cos you know those paps! Like Tupac- they get around!

MARIAH'S NEW FRAGRANCE
Mariah Carey hopes to hit more than high notes in the fall scent parade with M by Mariah Carey, her new women's fragrance.
Carey unveiled her scent to beauty editors at a lavish cocktail party in Soho Monday night, which she hosted with Elizabeth Arden, her fragrance licensee. And if Carey's musical prowess extends to her fragrance, Arden will have a hit on its hands: Carey is the best-selling female musical artist of all time, with a string of 17 number-one singles - not to mention a five-octave range - to her credit. Carey has also won five Grammy Awards, nine American Music Awards and Billboard's "Artist of the Decade" award for her singing and songwriting talents. She is currently recording a new album.

VH1 Save The Music Foundation To Honor Mariah
Mariah Carey and Jon Bon Jovi will join in celebrating the VH1 Save The Music Foundation's 10th Anniversary Gala on September 20th at Lincoln Center in New York City. Jon Bon Jovi will perform as part of a special tribute to VH1 Save The Music founder John Sykes during a ceremony that will also honor Mariah Carey for her unyielding support of the Foundation's mission.
"I am thrilled to have Jon Bon Jovi and Mariah Carey share in the celebration of the VH1 Save The Music Foundation's 10th anniversary," says Paul Cothran, Executive Director of the VH1 Save The Music Foundation. "It would be hard to look back on the past ten years and recount each of our triumphs and successes without recalling individuals such as these two artists that have donated so much of their time and efforts to restoring music education programs across the country."
During the elaborate 10th anniversary celebration, the VH1 Save The Music Foundation will honor Mariah Carey for her outstanding dedication to the organization over the years. Since 1998, Mariah Carey has been instrumental in helping the VH1 Save The Music Foundation achieve their goals by volunteering her time and efforts in various ways. Mariah has performed at several benefit shows including the very first "VH1 Divas" in 1998 and has been active in raising public awareness about the benefits of music education during events such as NBC's "VH1 Save The Music Today! Week." In 2006, Mariah donated the Escada dress she wore in her Intel Centrino Duo commercial, which later sold at auction to benefit The Foundation.
John Mayer, who can be seen in one of The Foundation's newest public service announcements, will co-headline the event. Tim Gunn of Project Runway will also be on hand to emcee a live auction, which will feature one-of-a-kind items and experiences from VH1 Save The Music partners. Additional honorees, participants and attendees will be announced in the coming months.

Nelly Working Up A Collabo With Mariah And Janet
Jermaine Dupri is in the studio trying to make even more hits - with everybody. He's producing an all-ballad album for Jagged Edge, then you have Usher, Mariah Carey, Janet Jackson and one of his best friends, Nelly.
"Nelly's got a crazy collaboration he's trying to put together, which is him, Janet and Mariah Carey all on one song," JD said. "That's what he wants. If he could convince them to do it, it would be crazy. He wants Janet to rap a 16-bar verse, he wants Mariah to sing the hook and he's gonna do two verses. He has it all planned out. You ask him about it! This is what he wants; he's 100-percent deadlocked into it. And I think he's doing a record with Bruce Springsteen. You know he always has to do one of those! My two records [that J.D. has produced for Nelly so far], he's gonna have some people on them - I won't tell it yet. I don't want to jinx the record.

Billboard Reviews Bone Thugs' Strength & Loyalty
Strength and Loyalty
BONE THUGS-N-HARMONY
Genre: HIP-HOP
Label: Full Surface/Interscope
With help from the ubiquitous Akon, Bone Thugs are climbing the charts once again with "I Tried," which jumped 35-7 on The Billboard Hot 100 last week. The cut introduces "Strength and Loyalty," a relatively solid return that should bring some new fans into the flock. Throughout, it seems the group is trying to re-create its past success by repeating its previously successful musical patterns. Unfortunately, it might not be such an easy road, because its audience is now 10 years older. For example, "Lil L.O.V.E.," featuring a melodious and round duet with Mariah Carey, is their 2007 version of the 1998 hit "Breakdown," while "Order My Steps" is this year's "Tha Crossroads." Featuring gospel giant Yolanda Adams, the latter cut is a random and refreshing duet that starts off quoting Jeremiah 10:23-24. Diehard fans will be satisfied, and newcomers will be enticed to sing along.
Mediabase Airplay Update: Bone Thugs-N-Harmony's "Lil L.O.V.E." featuring Mariah Carey & Bow Wow has registered 2.419 million audience impressions, with 186 spins as of 5/4/2007.
"Lil L.O.V.E." is currently the most requested song on KS 107.5's 4-Play at 4 With Dreena in Denver, Colorado and on 98.5 KLUC's Bob's Big 8 at 8 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The song places at #6 on Wild 94.9's Playlist in San Francisco, California, request line: (888) 333-9490. Call to request or vote online!

Cool & Dre To Work On Mariah's New Album?
In an interview with Mix Tape Kings, Cool, one-half of the hit-making producing duo, Cool & Dre, vaguely hints at a possible collaboration with Mariah Carey.
Even with all his success, Cool is still partially blind to that fact. "When did Cool & Dre feel like they finally made it?" Cool laughs for a few seconds and yells out "Yesterday!" Of course he was kidding. But he makes it clear that such ideas don't really stir their minds. What can I say, the guy is humble. He continues though, "...But when you got Mariah Carey on your phone asking for a hit, then..." He laughs and doesn't finish the sentence; but you get the point.
Meanwhile, Cool & Dre are set to work with Whitney Houston and Christina Milian on their respective upcoming albums.

TWO NEW PRODUCERS FOR MARIAH?
On Wikipedia it says that Donell Jones is currently writing and producing for upcoming projects for singers like Usher, Mya, Trey Songz & Mariah Carey. Donell Jones is an R&B tenor singer from Chicago, Illinois, and is signed to LaFace Records. Jones started his career writing and producing for artists such as Usher ("Think Of You"), 702 ("Get It Together"), Brownstone, Silk and many others. In 1996, Jones began a recording career of his own, and had his biggest hit in 1999, "U Know What's Up" featuring the late Lisa "Left-Eye" Lopes of TLC.
Rumours are that Brian-Michael Cox is also working with Mariah in Anguilla. Here's what he wrote on his MySpace page: "So, I move around so much that I don't even know where I live anymore. Then I get a phone call from one of the biggest female recording artists ever to come way to Anguilla and do some writing for her upcoming LP. Of course I came out here. And of course I can't tell you who she is until the album comes out. [...] We wrote four songs, four smashes!"

Gospel Collaboration?
In an exclusive interview with Terrell of MiddleChild Promotions, gospel singer Karen Clark-Sheard revealed that one of her future projects includes a collaboration with Mariah Carey.
Terrell: Cool. Now you mentioned Aretha Franklin, I read somewhere that you're supposed to be working with her with your sisters and whatnot, but the fans want to know, what are some of the collaborations that you have in store for us in the near future?
Karen Clark-Sheard: Well, of course Aretha reached out to us, she has a production that she is coming out with that she wanted us to be a part of. So we're looking to colleborate with her in the future... And also Mariah Carey as well, I'll do something with her in the near future as well.

Ne-Yo: "Mariah's Comeback Should Inspire Whitney"
R&B singer and songwriter Ne-Yo has heard some of Houston's new work, and he's impressed. "It's all good," he told Planet Gossip's Matt Donnelly last night at Lobby nightclub in West Hollywood, where he was celebrating his new album, Because of You.
And he hopes to make it even better. He's writing some tracks for Houston, but he wants to avoid songs that scream "My name is Whitney Houston and this is my triumphant comeback," he said. "My contribution is just going to be regular songs. You been through this, you been through that-cool! We feel you on that. But two songs of that is really all you need."
He thinks Ms. Houston should take look at Mariah Carey's comeback for inspiration. "Mariah didn't even discuss the drama that she went through," Ne-Yo said. "She just went right in with good, quality tracks."

Decoding 'Idol's' Medley Mystery
Which two music mega music stars will duet on the "Idol Gives Back" special?
Over the past few weeks the Idol obsessives have been presented with a mystery of unimaginable magnitude: What two celebrity performers will sing a duet on this week's much-hyped "Idol Gives Back" special?
While promoting "Idol Gives Back" last week, Ryan Seacrest incanted a long list of banner names booked on "Idol" this week. And then came the "Idol" twist: an element of surprise. "...Plus, a duet you'll have to see to believe when two of the biggest stars in musical history come together on our stage," he said.
By the following day the predictions were flying. Madonna and Bono? Michael Jackson and Paul McCartney? Whitney Houston and Michael Jackson? Mariah Carey and Janet Jackson? Paul McCartney and Celine Dion? Anything, it seemed was possible.
But many "Idol" detectives zeroed in on one particular phrasing in Seacrest's words. Surely a message was hidden there. "Biggest stars in musical history."
"It turns out this 'ground breaking' duet has already been pre-recorded and of course, leaked by someone in the audience," Kim Lawson, founder and reporter of the celebrity news site called GirlsTalkinSmack wrote on April 19, a full three days before TMZ reported the same information. "The duet will be...Celine Dion and Elvis Presley!"
Kim was not into it. "Um, yeah, not that exciting," she wrote. But generously, she did deign to give details. "In case you're wondering HOW Elvis will show up, he's being played by a Vegas impersonator but his real voice will be used (and apparently his real face, although that doesn't make sense to me)," she wrote.
And despite Lawson's certainty that she has cracked the code, some fans note that while Celine Dion's name has jumped on and off Fox's myriad press releases, her name does appear on the most recent one. So does that mean it's not her? Is her?
Might Celine and phantom Elvis be a false lead? Stay tuned.

Mariah, Creator of Low-Rider Look
I'm more than a little concerned by the current fraud in women's apparel. Can someone please explain why women are wearing dresses on top of jeans?! This is the dumbest fashion trend since leg warmers in springtime.
Men everywhere should get down on their knees daily and thank their higher power for Mariah Carey, the unintentional creator of the low-rider look. Think of what she inspired: short shirts, bare navels, visible thongs. On that platform, alone, Mariah should run for office. Yet, some fashionista, who should be burned at the mannequin, recently deemed it necessary to cover up those aforementioned advancements with dresses. Why, why, why, why, why?
Ladies, this is not an ice cream parlor where you can have the vanilla and the chocolate when you can't make up your minds. Choose the dress or the jeans; not both. Psst; guys vote for the jeans.

Mariah's Former Fur Goes on Display
Wearing nothing but Uncle Sam hats, patriotic panties, and a red-white-and-blue banner reading, "We'd Rather Go Naked Than Wear Fur," a bevy of sexy PETA beauties will collect donated fur coats for the needy in Philadelphia on April 16, the eve of "tax day," 12 noon at the Post Office, 2970 Market St.
PETA reminds prospective donors who no longer want to be associated with the cruelty inherent in every fur coat or collar that their donations are tax-deductible. Many former fur-wearing celebrities have donated coats to PETA, including Kimberley Hefner, Mary Tyler Moore, and Mariah Carey, whose coat will be on display.

"Lil L.O.V.E." Not Bone Thugs' Second Single
Contrary to earlier reports, "Lil L.O.V.E." is not going to be the second single from Bone Thugs-N-Harmony's new album, Strength and Loyalty. Group member Krayzie confirms this in an interview with Billboard.
"The second single is a toss-up between the two Swizz [Beatz] creations on the album, "Bump in the Trunk" and "Candy Paint." "Swizz got on our level," says Krayzie of their collaboration with the rapper/producer. "He's really versatile, and he actually showed that working with us. He made it comfortable for us to rap over his tracks."

Ne-Yo is Nitpicky of Whitney
Man of the moment, Ne-Yo, has long been a favorite of the press. We love this dude because he speaks his mind. He recently put Trey Songz in check for charging fans for taking a photo with him and now he is getting at Whitney Houston by saying the songs he's heard from her highly anticipated 'comeback' CD are boring.
Ne-Yo was asked to rank the songs by Clive Davis himself. "They all had the one same theme, which was 'My name is Whitney Houston and this is my triumphant comeback.' We all understand she has gone through a lot. I'm sure we all get that but I think she needs songs about regular everyday life. So that's what I'm planning to add to the album - songs about everyday emotions," Ne-Yo told The Sun. [Ne-Yo's own album Because Of You is out on May 1.]
SOHH Soulman says, "Too many chefs in the kitchen seemingly all preparing the same meal. Don't it seem like everyone has written a song for Whitney? If you checked Mariah Carey's 'comeback' cheat sheet, she at least co-wrote her own stuff. If you leave that totally up to someone else how are you ever gonna be able to add in your own flava." *Mariah Carey fans forgive me for calling it a 'comeback'... she's been here for years.

T.I. Working on Mariah's New Album
King T.I. stopped by VIBE today to talk about his forthcoming album TI vs. TIP, movies, and future projects. His interview revealed that he is producing on Mariah Carey's new album.
The King's market acquisition tactics are far from lax. He's working on other peoples' records, and he's got a slew of film projects in the works, too. On the music front, he's been helping BG out with his new record. He's been juicing up his producer game, making beats for artists like Mariah Carey, Cassidy, Rick Ross, Young Joc and Young Dro. "Whether they use the beats or not is up to them," he said.

Most #1s From A Debut Album
Four No. 1 hits from one album is the most for any solo female. The first woman to score four No. 1s from the same album was Whitney Houston. Her second album, "Whitney," yielded a quartet of No. 1 singles: "I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me)," "Didn't We Almost Have It All," "So Emotional" and "Where Do Broken Hearts Go."
Janet Jackson had a run of four No. 1 singles from her "Rhythm Nation 1814" album: "Miss You Much," "Escapade," "Black Cat" and "Love Will Never Do (Without You)."
And then there's Mariah Carey, who had four No. 1 hits on her eponymous debut CD. Her chart career began with "Vision of Love," "Love Takes Time," "Someday" and "I Don't Wanna Cry."
Only six solo female artists have been able to pull two or more Hot 100 No. 1 singles from a debut album in the last 20 years. It's important to note that there were qualifications - solo female artists who pulled two or more No. 1 songs from a debut album (not any album) over the last 20 years (note the time frame). If we mind the qualification about having four No. 1 singles from a debut album, only Paula Abdul and Mariah Carey would count.
Mariah and Petz?
Mariah is mentioned in an article from Yahoo! Italy that talks about the game "Petz." Thanks to Joao for the translation.
Today is the release date in Italy of the game born to teach how to take care of your own virtual pet. It's called "Petz" and in a few months, in the rest of the world, 4 million people already fell in love, creating a planetary phenomenon, conquering children and adults too. Stars like Angelina Jolie bought the game for her children, but many of them bought the game for themselves, from Will Smith to Mariah Carey. In England, in the University of Newcastle, the game is the theme of a symposium that is going to be happen in a few days.

Other new IDJ albums this year are Ne-Yo's album set for late April, Bon Jovi's new album "Lost Highway" to be released in June, and Rihanna's new album "Good Girl Gone Bad" also to be released in June.
Who's the Bigger Diva Mariah or Whitney?
Who is the bigger diva: Mariah or Whitney? Far be it from me to question the musical knowledge of Clive Davis, but I'm beginning to wonder if the mogul is growing senile in his old age. Hollywood.TV quotes the chairman and CEO of BMG North America as saying "the best singers in the world are Aretha [Franklin] and [Whitney] Houston," in a discussion comparing mega divas Whitney and Mariah Carey. "That's not to knock Carey. Carey is a friend of mine, but I think Mariah would even say those two are the best." I don't think there's any doubt Mariah would concede to Aretha, but Whitney? Those two are the Prince and Michael Jackson of divadom. Neither one would ever admit to being any less of an entertainer than the other. The day Mariah Carey says Whitney Houston is the better singer is the day Nicole Richie sits down and enjoys a full three-course meal. So Clive, don't go to Mariah for your diva comparisons -- come to me. That's right, you lucked out, my friend. Right here and now, your friendly neighborhood columnist will put the two super egos to the test in a battle to determine once and for all which diva's star shines brightest. Better album: For Mariah, this would have to be 1990's "Mariah Carey," headlined by her best song to date, "Vision of Love." You'd have to go back to that exact same year to find Whitney's best album, "I'm Your Baby Tonight," headlined by "Miracle." It's a tough call, but I have to give the better album to Whitney. Hotter woman: Whatever ground Mariah may have lost in the previous comparison, she more than makes up for in this all-important category. Mimi has consistently been hotter than Whitney at every stage of their careers. Better husband: It's hard to do any worse than the crack-smoking, child support-dodging antics of Bobby Brown, but Mariah managed to do so with the overly possessive former head of Sony Music Entertainment, Tommy Mottola. Besides, Mottola didn't make "Don't Be Cruel." Better actress: Sure, "The Bodyguard" and "Waiting to Exhale" are decent enough films, but Whitney didn't bring half the hilarity Mariah did when she graced us with "Glitter." I'm laughing just thinking about it. That's the sign of a quality movie. So you see Mr. Davis, the two seem to stand about even when you break everything down. Thanks are not necessary, I'll just assume the check's in the mail. Source: MariahJournal/Pensacola News Journal
Rumour Alert-Mariah to adopt a child?
According to the Latin radio show America Showbiz, singer Mariah Carey visited an orphanage in Mexico last February, with her lawyer. The show confirmed to have pictures of Carey's visit, and added "She has intentions of adopting a child or was simply helping the institution."
Mariah's visit to Franck Gonzalez orphanage was expected for several months. Ever since Mariah started dating her ex Luis Miguel, she has helped many different Mexican institutions. Representatives of Carey's label didn't confirm the singer's desire to adopt a child saying they don't interfere in her private life.
